Question about AC in my grow room 1

So I finally decided to get back into growing but my only problem is that the room it's all going to be in gets pretty hot during the day especially during summer. So I put this window AC in there with the back against a crack at the top of a door that was installed by the previous owner for some reason that's about 2-3 inches. Only problem I noticed is that while it's not in power saver mode the back of it gets pretty damn warm and makes the wood behind it warm too. Should I be worried or will it be fine? And if not what can I do to solve it?
Edit: Apparently it gets warm while in power saver mode too

That’s not gonna work..starving it for air. That back end has to be outside…gotta cut a bigger hole if you’re gonna use it.

Will burn up the compressor and potentially start a fire.

If you dont have a window or cant cut a hole in a wall in order to mount a window unit then you should be using an "in room" unit. Then run the exhaust vent to the outside

All you’re doing is recirculating the air the unit has processed and pumping the hot air you’re trying to remove back into the room. Either cut a hole for the window unit, get a room unit with a discharge vent or get a split unit.

Also they drip water out of the back in normal operation.
You can't run a ac like this because the heat must exit the back.

Damn alright, I'll think about putting a hole in the back wall to put it in or buy an in room unit. Would rather put it in the wall to save money but don't know if my neighbors would question why I have an AC unit in that small extension the previous owners added on lmao.

It's not odd to have an ac unit in an extra room. No reason to be suspicious.
It would be a piece of cake to put a hole in the wall for it. Just frame around the rectangle, then trim and caulk it after your done.
The guts usually slide out from the frame/shell on these larger ones with a couple of screws on the front and/or side. Then the lightweight shell is easy to install and you slide in the main unit.

I see ac units in walls frequently, especially in older houses and outbuildings.

Go with the window unit mounted in the wall. They are usually more efficient energywise than the portable ACs and they're alot cheaper. It's common to see window units in additions / outbuildings around here so it shouldn't raise any concerns from your neighbors.

Hopefully the poor ac is still functional after being abused like this. It's probably fine but dang.

Window units are more efficient than in room units. I have both styles.
