perhaps if you took better pictures it would be easier...
it could be a _matucana spp_ or a lophophora diffusa (don't think so), but not an l. williamsii...
is it blooming or has recently bloomed? what are those hairs on its top?
looks cool anyways!

Unless it's a Matucana madisoniorum with the spines pulled out then it's almost difinately a Lophophora; and not L. diffusa. The pictures are quite blurry, but assuming that it hasn't be made to look like a Lophophora spp. I would bet that it is a La Pa, from seed, 3-5 years old, and grown exclusively indoors. Local nursery find? That sticker with the UPC code doesn't have a name on it?

In retrospect, I guess it very well could be a Matucana madisoniorum that just grew that way; it certainly looks like it could be--more so than the typical williamsii. I just find it unlikely that a speciment that large would be entirely spineless. But, basically, the overall global shape, devoid of any tear-drob like recessions around the tufts, and unusually small tufts, not to mention the color, says to me... bets off, but wait until it flowers again to be sure, you may just get lucky yet.

I think it's Matucana madisoniorum with the spines pulled out too.

I grow peyotes, have a 6 year old specimen, and have seen lots of pictures. Unfortunately, it is definitely not a lophophora williamsii, but I do not know what it is.

It's definitely not a lophophora, that' sfor sure. As for the scars, it's debatable, but the spines are growing out of aeroles and the aeroles are semi fluffy, i pulled a whole section of spines out of stenocereus just so i could repot it and there's no visible signs of damage other than missing spines.
