Favorite way to rehydrate substrate after 1st flush?

So i’ve done plenty of shoeboxes and do get solid subsequent flushes but unsure of the best route to rehydrate substrate.
How do you guys prefer to do it? I’ve read that some let it soak for far too long. Thoughts/suggestions?

I just mist until i see a little pooling and let absorb. Once again the next day or ~12 hours later. Again ~12 hours later excessive water gets poured off and sucked up with a paper towel.

I usually just dunk my sub for 3-4 hours. Then I dump the water and monitor the surface for a couple days misting when/if it looks dry.
I'm also a shoebox grower.

Do you guys have the top all the way on (LESS FAE,) right after rehydrating the sub? Or have it cracked, OR straight fruiting conditions?
I just misted it good, not a fan of dunking but we’ll see.

A couple heavy mists like Goat said. “Fruiting conditions” all day, every day after spawn.

When I was heavier into growing I just did whatever. This time my first two tubs didn’t get enough FAE, my other ones have enough and are pinning wayyy more. I like to keep the tops latched until it’s fully colonized or like 10 days, then turn it upside down but on

I leave the top on but not latched after my dunk but I don't actually pop one side up again until I see pins.
Once I see pins I do this to increase fae in order to "fruit".
There is plenty of fae in the tubs pretty much always. I just lift the lid to flood the tub with fae and produce as much evaporation as I can while maintaining surface conditions.

What size are those tubs? Mine don’t have latches, only 6qt. Looks like a small mono you have there

Those are just 6qt shoeboxes.

I think it matters how much weight it has lost. If it feels light, dunk it. If not, spray it.

1. Do you guys have any special way to spray it (like trying not to spray pins?)
2. How do you know when you’ve sprayed enough?
3. After it’s sprayed/dunked, do you put the lid on right for a bit or?
Thanks guys. I’ve grown many many boxes but still don’t have a good method at this point

That bad boy did NOT look like a 6qt, interesting. I like the latches too, I got mine bc it’s the same ones I started with (mushboys shoebox tek.)
I was debating on trying bigger tubs but I don’t see it being worth it. It DOESNT sound like most get more yield per quart jar of spawn in a mono than a shoebox

I didn't have the best luck soaking my sub. I use tubs. I usually got something contaminating it. I've found it better just misting kind of heavily after harvest then just treating it like it's in fruiting conditions.

What is heavy misting to you guys? I didn’t even mist THAT much and it looks pretty wet… Another big question is what do you guys do with your tops after rehydrating your substrate?

Really? A heavy misting will carry you guys through a solid second flush? Damn, maybe I just live in a dry climate…
I go slightly over field capacity from the jump, and after first flush I soak the shit out of my trays for at least a couple hours and carefully pour off what’s still hanging around. Then back in they go. I have a big ol’ injector/syringe I’ll use on occasion as well.

I just dump a pint to a quart of water in there if it needs it and call it a day.

I'm with you Boozie. It seems like a heavy misting or two doesn't replace enough water.
Most of the TCs say otherwise though so
Personally I have had way better luck down here in Florida dunking!
