RLS and Iron + : report of self remediation

I've been struggling with some RLS thanks to binging drugs that I knew weren't meant to be used daily- lol I'm assuming that's what I did- off the drugs for a while now and I can't sleep for more than 30min -2hr maybe without waking up to flip over and kick around some. Done with it, super duper fucking done with it. I just read online that iron is used to treat it. IME iron was super hard for me to process from multivitamins and it would always make me incapacitated then vomiting. Don't have many other options can't get to doc til late-May. So I just tried my first dose of iron supplement with a meal. I'll report back if it works. Have you tried iron for RLS before, how'd you like it? Did it "work" ? >inb4 duurrrr hey kreg docs will totally give you opioids to cure that illness that you caused with opioids! yeah fuck off no thanks.

Fucking hell. Last night was not great. I took the iron supp, ate a really big meal for dinner... not very long after I started getting hungry again but it was time for bed... I was so hungry I couldn't even sleep. By the time I did get to sleep, RLS decided it's time for me to wake up every 40min to roll over and do a few kicks.

I ate a couple THC infused cookies and that had me into very restful sleep aside from waking up stoned with my eyes sucked into my neck

That's why they can it "the kick". Depends on what you were using but when I was cut off of my meds (suboxone, gabapentin, cyclobenzaprine, and some others) I was literally awake for 20 or 21 days before I got my first 30 min of sleep. My nerve endings were on fire. I basically went psychotic. I found hot showers and exercise and stretching helped. I've used magnesium before for restless legs and anxiety, also seemed to help, it can be a laxative at higher doses though.

I had bad RLS for a while after quitting a daily kratom habit. One thing I can say is do not take Benadryl as a sleep aid. It always made my RLS much worse. I never tried iron supplements.

Thats really strange I had good results with benedryl- actually Zzzquil, only difference is the ZZZ has a little alcohol.. I don't think my situation has improved since I started iron supplementation so I dont think I want to push that... going to keep trying it just not increasing the dose soon

Maybe I have to give it a few weeks or something but iron and magnesium don't seem to have affect on my RLS. Oral THC seems to be the best so far however it's also not so effective because of how long it takes to kick in... I have to stay active throughout the day otherwise I'd just dose it in the afternoon or earlier and not worry about it

Sleeping on the floor has been the most satisfying weapon fighting against this. Maybe my mattress and couch are too soft. Whatever it is, its working. Dont plan on doing this forever

I used a vibrating pad, marketed for use in an office chair. It saved my life during sub withdrawal. Just put it under my legs when laying down. Cooking in cast iron will increase your iron intake and might be easier on the stomach.
