That's Great haha. Did you put the cap right on the agar or have a rack or something sitting atop the plate?

Lol you got me thinking. You know what would be cool? Taking a print on a plate and THEN pouring it. Hmmmm

I put it right smack dab on top of the agar, lol. I’m expecting contamination. Hopefully I’ll be surprised.

Here is an empty agar plate with a fresh print. I planned on doing just what you’re saying, add a little water and put on agar.

Mine did something like that turning blue on the caps. Only some of them did that. They were all pretty potent. Tub 1
 Tub 2
I like the pic of them about to be dried the best. Soooooo fucking blue!

Just finished a batch, many of them also seemed to turn blue when they were near maturity and none were over 1 inch tall, like little blueberries. Blue ones could be aborts though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I tried out your suggestion, no water added to the spore print. Just fresh spores on agar.

Some fresh GTs. No liner, minimal side pins, no bottom pins. giggity. Not always the case. I usually use liners, but sometimes u just gotta hammer out a few tubs in a rush. Happy harvesting!

Did you get a temp before the pour?
I ask because a technique, that used to be used at least, was if you had some contam on a dish, you could pour like 160F-ish agar over it to kill off the contam and keep the myc.
I wonder if pouring warm agar over spores could help achieve cleaner germinations?!

I’ve thought the same. IIRC, most mold spores die quickly at around 170f. I wonder if cubensis spores can survive that temp. As far as I know, bacteria can’t grown through agar to the surface, and if a hot pour would kill mold spores and leave mushroom spores viable, pouring warm agar onto a couple drops of MSS could a good technique. More testing is needed. I’m about to make some agar…

Sounds pretty interesting.. if it works, it's a really cool idea.

I think I'm in the minority but I wait until the open caps are ready to print then I cut them all down like that. I like my fruits before the caps open but I like to take prints to. You got the best of both worlds there!

I have some great clusters but they are all hollow, is it worth cloning a cluster?
