Macron coasts to victory in France, but LePen has best showing to date

Didn’t see a thread for the French presidential elections so here it is (now that they’re over).
Macron 58.5% LePen 41.5%
Was really hoping for a bigger showing from the left, Melenchon, who received 22% of the vote in the first round, predictably threw his support behind Macron, but is calling for left unity now in the wake of the final ballot, and a direct confrontation with Macron. It remains to be seen what this will look like in practice, but a big reason why LePen did so well this time is that Macron is incredibly unpopular. But as is the case with all capitalist nations, they will vie for the fascist before the socialist, so Macron is under no real threat and therefore probably won’t do a damn thing with his renewed mandate.
What are y’all’s thoughts

From what I’ve read, Macron is often viewed as aloof and arrogant by his detractors, especially after the yellow vest protests. The war in Ukraine gave him a good opportunity to cast LePen as a Putin admirer. If he wants longer term success though, I think he’ll have to find a way to ease the economic woes that sparked that movement.

I think the playbook for liberals nowadays is basically a never ending “well yeah but what about this psycho?” and if they happen to lose power for a few years then who cares, the fascists have corporate friendly policies too.
They cant make concessions to the working class anymore. That’s a hard no from the ruling class.
They also cant allow a popular political party to emerge on their left.
So what do? Just keep on telling people the next election is the most important election of their lives and make sure you highlight the ways in which your farther right opposition is psychotic. Worst case scenario you lose, which means you don’t feel the pressure to act for workers, you get to fundraise off the evil opposition for a few years, and your donors don’t mind because they’re coming out even better with the fascists in power. Admittedly this is a more difficult task with a parliamentary system than with whatever the fuck we have in the states, but Macron has seemed to manage, not that the socialist party in power previously was anywhere approaching actual socialist policy, same goes for Labour in the UK. Corbyn does well after the failures of Blairites, but his own party (along with the tories and the lib Dems and the media) attacked him, and sure Labour is suffering now with Starmer at the helm but who cares? They could lose the next 4 elections in a row and it’s not like the entire Labour base is going to go to the Greens. I just don’t see this paradigm shifting until something substantial happens, something that seriously affects the lives of people in a way that completely erodes their faith in private enterprise to solve it.
I legitimately can’t imagine a problem that humanity could face where the kneejerk response is to subsidize some group of corporations to handle it.

It's hard to imagine how any left leaning party could be voted into power while the liberals all over the world run a campaign of "Vote for us or else the far right gets to run the country". It also lets Macron's government do whatever they want without consequence as long as there is an even worse option for people to be afraid of.
