Am I doing it right? This is the same culture as the 66 qt that I’ve been posting pics of, only difference is this is a shoebox! Crazy how much growing conditions affect fruiting body phenotypes! They’re almost snakes lol.

Does anyone else have issues with potency? Everybody has been complaining about that last batch. Theyre absolute garbage, whole eighths do nothing.

it happens dude, when i started out i hunted out the RW strain because of the cool poster who invented it, and unnaturally, some of those shrooms ended up being the weakest i fruited and people hounded me for it
its possible to grow "near to" bunk shrooms
...
i should know,
I fruited fimetarias
looking for semilanceata

Definitely let us know if you feel anything from that overlay.

PEople have had inactive PE also, it’s super rare.
What did your weak batch look like?

Quite a few months back I tried my hand at Nats and came up with some very odd mycelium which produced yellow and purple colors along with a lot of overlay, but no fruiting mushrooms. Slightly bummed - off to the mailbox for a different swab of Nat that hopefully would be easier.
This is my second attempt, it's from a different source entirely- I used a typical shoe box type set up. I experienced no overlay or anything different from cubes, in-fact so similar to cubes that I'm having difficulty believing that they are in fact Natalensis.
I have seen several different looking Nats though, and I have heard that they can appear in many different forms according to genetics + cultivation environment.
I thought I'd pop a few pics up here and get an opinion if these colul be the Nats or if the vendor just sent me plain old B+ or something.

thanks!

I don’t think those are natalensis.
This might be where the confusion of natalensis vs cubes from natal comes in.

thank you for your input AKA - that's what I suspected as well-
I have one more colonized jar that I am going to try to fruit from yet another source... ( it's the jar on the left ). I'm not sure if looking at the mycelium can indicate whether its Nat or not- I'm open to opinions about that

the jar on the right is another attempt on that first failed strain as mentioned before. I suspect it may be Natalensis, though it appears to be very contaminated, so I probably will not try to fruit it.
Pretty frustrating going through the whole cultivation process with the wrong variety. If anyone wants to help me out acquire the real thing, please message me.
thanks!

Mrmushly I have definite natalensis spores ready to go, PM me.
Smalltalk and AKA They were that last batch I posted pics of. I ate them fresh, its theonly thing that will work. These were bluer than pan. cyanescens, im thinking its weak tissue, allowing all the present alkaloids to oxidize...
Did you happen to still have any fimetaria spores on hand? That one is one of my holy grails, because its the only dung-lover (besides weak-ass deconica) that will tolerate Pennsylvania winter temperatures and fruit the next season.

I will say this; Nats get my vote for being the ugliest 'shroom! But performance is far more important than looks. So, for now I have converted to going 100% with NSS. We are still weeks away from any NSS fruits though, and we will advise; or share pics here asap.
THANKS TO ALL IN THIS THREAD!

There’s so much genetic diversity in these, if you keep rolling the dice you’ll eventually find something you like.
Awesome. This is the strain for me.

Just spawned 2 shoeboxes of Mojave’s Nats a couple days ago. They are outrunning the Combodian golds I spawned on the same day. Excited to see how they turn out.

I will say that I have one block of PE that refuses to fruit. It's going on 3 months for a small block... ' appears good, ' smells good. But this PE refuses to fruit. So, I can vouch for this issue with PE. I thought NSS might be a better performer, but now I don't know.

I'm no expert by far, but I agree that those 'shrooms appear to be cubes, at this stage anyway.
