I don't think I have a favorite post. But I have reflected on his contribution to my understanding in many ways. A true legend in my mind

I scrolled thru a few pages of his posts and found this one from 2018 that I find interesting.
The second paragraph is a bit dark, but that's how he was. The last 2 lines make me laugh.

IMO most of humanity is lost in a cul de sac of hiding from the unpleasant truths of reality. Ernest Becker wrote a very interesting book that really delves into this (Denial of Death). So basically everyone is telling a story that on some level they know is not true. But to face that is frightening. So they tell comforting stories to each other and to keep that doubt and fear from arising they expect you to tell that very same story. If you don't you will be suspect and usually attacked or ignored. I'd guess that's why you think people suck. It's good you give new people a shot to be real before you write them off because really it's no ones fault. We get programmed to tell these stories right from the get go.
I think if you want to live a different life you'll be very limited in your social life. So if you're cynical and think most people suck you'll have to pay the price for that POV. Personally I think the price is worth it but it's still very hard, very sad and usually somewhat lonely. I pretty much think like you do. I think the human race would be better off dying out. There's so much suffering caused by our stories and it seems, in spite of what a lot of people say due to selection bias, humanity is not waking up. In all times of history there are a select few that are people you'd likely want to hang with. If you find one outside of a book consider yourself very lucky.

Big ups to one of the shroomery greats. This guy really touched my life, and it was with such straightforwardness and nonchalance. I hope he knew he really helped me grow, into the person I am today. For the better, and I always tried to share my positive words with him as well(when I could muster them) bc he could be in some dark places sometime dealing with the pain he was towards the end. Mush love ice. We miss you

Humanity is waking up without question. We are waking up in a very significant way and it's beyond exciting. The problem is; many people haven't grasped that in this dualistic existence things flow in tandem. There is no growth in 'good', without the equal and opposite growth in evil. Wars will come with the wake.
What people observe and reflectively believe (and reflectively observe and so forth, further increasing their integrity in their position in a destructive loop)just depends on where they are standing. We can't see a rising sun from the trench...

Sometimes we snap awake when we die in a dream and it is a bit disconcerting. Imagine how much more so to wake up into something very similar yet different. One where now you realize the dream part before the death.
"Who is that butterfly over there?" asked the emporer.

I don't have a favorite post either. I mentioned one thing in his appreciation thread. Another is death anxiety but Ice was around (and an interesting person) years before that started. He was often abrasive. We shared quite a few views so it wasn't usually directed at me but he could let loose in a debate and still keep it on topic.
He was introspective towards himself here and honest about it like the way we might think to ourselves about failings and esteem issues. He was a cynic and critic so I feel kindred towards him in that respect. To be fair, many of the active posters in those years were cynical and critical.
But he also had a different side that was friendly and outgoing. He was a supplement salesman for some years and was a seeker for many years, martial arts, psychedelics, roughing it in the wilderness. I never met him in person but I'm sure it would have been cool to sit and smoke a j with him and talk about some shit.

He first messaged me in 2016 with a nice friendly note that I just read again. It ended with "I like you"
Here's a tribute to him - the photo was taken by JSB

Not a favorite, but in his Post a Song thread when he happened to recognize a song I posted, somehow that was meaningful. I just went back to check, cause you know this wasnt all that long ago, just the bottom of page four and a few posts after. But that exchange and just chatting about some favorite music, that meant a lot to me. Apparently it still does, as that's what surfaced when you asked me this question. I never did get to meet Ice, and I know the me from those posts would punch me for that, but life sure does find a means to get in the way. We find ways to let our selves get in the way.
Happy Birthday, Icelander. You fucking devil, you.

Thanks for this. There it is, that's the Ice I knew. I miss this compassionate logical approach to existence. It's funny you say it is a bit dark, to me it feels like home. Someone, something, that wasn't living in fear to say clearly what it was seeing.
