Question
    #2774176 - 06/08/04 10:26 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I know this is a stupid question but im learning by myself here so give me a break   there are hardly any cow fields around where i live. maybe not even one  So i was wondering how often mushrooms grow with no manure out in the wild. not very possible? do old cow fields that have been shut down still produce active shrooms often?

There are a couple of shrooms that dont need manure. And for the other question about old shut down places i have no idea.

I think everyone that has posted in this thread needs to read the FAQ,including myself!

>"do old cow fields that have been shut down still produce active shrooms often?","So i was wondering how often mushrooms grow with no manure out in the wild."

Yes there has been known fields(with no animals) that have produced, but, they had cattle or horses in them at one time.Alot of farmers will move there animals to a different field with fresher greens and leave behind a 'heaven' for mushrooms..(speaking about Psilocybe Cubensis)Although they won't produce indefinatly, these abandoned fields will produce for awhile-I don't know how long,I would assume untill the food supply(manure)is used up?

But there are other active mushrooms that don't grow in manure and may just grow in your 'neck of the woods',search and find

Shroomie Shroomie Shroomie, you're a hypocrite!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Only joking, but I do remember oh let's say 2 weeks ago when the guidelines were the last things on the world you would bother to read!

As for mushrooms, read the Mushroom Hunting FAQ. It will tell you the habitat that mushrooms grow on; you will finf many actives don't need cow shit to grow. Read up.
