Well after countless unfruitful efforts, finally made my first suburban finds of the season this morning at a local park!
First ones I stumbled upon were these, not many mature mushrooms but certainly plenty of pins which I might see to in a few days

Then after a bit more of a scour I stumbled upon these two great big clusters sitting next to one another

Also spotted a Stinkhorn and a patch of some Hypholoma while I was there which made for some cool photos

Very happy to have my efforts finally pay off

Been quiet a few years but I always love seeing you guys here Lovely Tasmaniana there wowee
Here's some early season sub finds

And some Alutacea(?) I'm not sure tho, they biiiiiig compared to any I usually find. They also lack that obvious sticky pelicle. Might hunt some more and do a formal ID request, sorry I know those aren't allowed here. Just thought I'd tack em on this post

Nice Finds everyone!  Those sure do look like Psilocybe alutacea Gallusgallus229.  ~ Back at Gippsland for the weekend. Here's some finds from around the garden... Active Gymnopilus on the mulch piles. They're starting to show up in a couple of garden beds too now;

 ~ More amanitas;

  There was one of these tall shaggy white amanitas growing amongst them again;
 ~ Psilocybe subaeruginosa;

  ~ And managed to squeeze a forest hike into today aswell these photos are from that.... Forest subs;

   The shroom to the right of the last photo is an imposter.  Thought this was pretty cool too a lone sub growing next to a pair of Cruentomycena viscidocruenta;
 ~ I went deeper into the forest this time, to try and look for a particular spot. but lost my orientation in the tangled mess of ferns and fallen trees. I spent quite some time bush whacking to find my way back to the road. Where I managed to make some cool finds along the way. This active gym in particular was a pleasant suprise;
  Thought it might've been Tricholomopsis rutilans, but after a quick taste test. It was bitter. So this would be my first time finding an active gym in the forest.  ~ and some other photos from today;

first post After a couple unlucky years my local spot (eastern suburbs) that I swamped with spore mixture has blessed me with some beautiful pins and a curly boi.

Been lurking a bit and waiting to post til I had my first discoveries which I had on Sunday. NW forest area. Not the biggest haul but better than my first one last year. Kinda strange growing conditions with lots of single fruits mostly growing at the base of different trees... not particularly close to each other but all within a hundred metres or so of each other.
Very first of the season, with a funny crinkly edge

Thought the myc on this one was impressive but the phone photo turned out a bit bog

Thought this was a sub pin at the time, but now thinking it was probably a Cortinarius sp.

Upturns are rare for me!

Picked this pin without looking at the pic first to notice that it hadn't unfurled yet - the stipe was super thick. Could've been a big boi

Dried out with some funky rain damage?

Left this one:

Is this an active gym?

Some other non-actives:

There's heaps of other threads on here too
Another decent easy method is to get a take away container or similar, layer the bottom with cardboard then add a layer of sub myc then layer of cardboard you can repeat this process a few times just once is sufficient, incubate at room temp is fine, wait til colonized then spawn to woodchips outdoor and tarp it. Let it colonize and birth it.

Subs are great at camouflage with their caramelly brown coloured tops in dried leafy litter like in your photos. It certainly pays to slow down, stop and get to ground level for them to suddenly appear. Good eagle eyeing!
That's some intense blueing in that split capped sub. Practically no brown visible.
And the second photo looks like it's gonna be a sweet cluster when they mature would love to see a photo of them after your next visit.
Hope your patience pays off and they remain waiting for you to be picked
Ah cool, I've wondered occasionally what the orangey ones are, as they're the ones that also lead me to repeated disappointment to start with for my first season. But then I also realised that they were often a good indicator of patches that were at least worth a closer look.
Thanks for the compliment on spotting! I'm finding it like those "hidden eye" pictures that used to be popular - I'll be staring at a patch of mixed mulch and leaf litter and seeing absolutely nothing, but then notice one or two and suddenly they're literally everywhere I glance , including right next to my feet...
I popped back two days later to check and take some more photos but it's been so dry since they first flushed, it was like nothing had changed in terms of size... A bit concerned that they'll just dry out, and to be honest wasn't sure whether the right thing to do was grab some pins anyway or just leave them, in terms of preserving the patch. So I guess I'm waiting til we get the decent rain that's supposed to be coming from tomorrow, and then check again. Fingers crossed and all that.
So sorry no photos this time, but I'll post more when there's better to see - hopefully in the next day or two!

Nice finds! Seasons definitely underway now - I'm finding good growth around the place. Any idea what that is growing between the Subs and Galerina's?

I have a feeling I am going to see these everywhere now that they have been identified by the helpful people on here. These images were taken in a garden bed in the east of Melbourne.

Happy hunting!!

Those are leratiomyces ceres. Try not to remove the whole mushroom when you are picking, use scissors or hold the base of the mushroom and twist and pull.
