Just wanting to read and write? 2

I'd love to just verse myself deep in knowledge. What is the point of most of life except for knowledge?
How many people out there in their 30s just read? (And live, exist, do the dishes) I mean is it rational?
I don't really have interest in my handful of friends anymore.
But if I pick up a book I can't put it down and it's extremely exciting.
I mean non-fiction by the way. Psychology, philosophy, physics...
Is this destiny calling me?
Just like to hear thoughts, especially from people who are like me and do very little except knowledge-seeking.

I'm in a similar age range, and reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I also enjoy reading non-fiction, however I split my reading time between both fiction and non-fiction. I can fully relate to your thirst of knowledge, but I may not exactly fit the criteria you're looking for. Although I love picking up a book and learning something new,, I still feel like there is nothing better than becoming fully immersed in a story that has no real value other than entertainment.

yes. reading and writting is best, better then any relationship I ever had with anyone in any way, family, friend, or girlfriends.
I honestly think about how it would have been nice if I got married to my ex like we had wanted, but then I look over at my library and I feel a yoke taken off my back.
books > people every single time

I'm heavily invested in learning and gaining more knowledge on a variety of subjects every single day however, I enjoy other people's company. Especially if I can learn something from them as well.

When many people have this heart connection, then we will know that we are all one, we human beings all over the planet. We will be one. One love. And don’t leave out the animals, and trees, and clouds, and galaxies: it’s all one. It’s one energy." -Ram Dass

Not in my 30s but I can sympathize.
R3volution.gurl makes a good point I think, reading and writing is great though engaging in living conversations with other open minded souls can really add value to things.
Maybe the issue is that popular opinion tends toward a conception of the future as paved by the development of external technologies, we have become so 'objectively' oriented, that we lose sight of the necessary development of the subjective side. The future in this view is just better and better stuff while we are the same, as we view the world in much the same way as we do now in regards to basic premises.

Unfortunately, one problem that I usually have with socializing is how limited I find most people.. I know that I could resolve this by seeking out like minded people, but I've never had a whole lot of luck in this area.. sometimes it makes me wish I had stayed in college a bit longer, so I could surround myself with more academic minded individuals. I'm not really big on technology, I absolutely hate social media.. but I do enjoy spending a lot of time on these forums for this reason.. a lot of the people on here seem to enjoy learning new things, sharing knowledge with others, and using the scientific method to test new ideas..
