All three shoes are at 7days. To me (beginner at best) they look like they are colonizing the sub fairly well. Mix of spent grains from a beer brew, and a little bit of sweet wort that I boiled to cook the coir. I haven't done anything to them except take the lid off once a day to stare at them. Lots of water droplets on top.
The third box, I noticed a little yellow in the very center, but it was also under a mini pool of water. Gentle picked up the water with the paper towel, and it doesn't look too bad. Oh, also found one fruit fly/nat poking around on the top of one of the shoes.

Double post, sorry guys I'm just hoping I can get some responses in time.
Do any of these look like they'd be worth sending to grain?

I've got 2 Yeti plates ready to go to grain but I don't want to prep extra jars if none of the above plates don't look like they're worth my time

Fiji x Playa (Cheesewheel) was a gift from a member on here. 'Cheese pin' was a plate pin, and 'Cheese fin' was a plate fin mutation
Thanks for the help

Thatβs a cool idea with the spent grain & wort. Whatβs the grain mix?

Those look good dude.
Whatβs the reasoning behind double-tapping the plates like that, versus using plates with partitions? Not knocking at all, just curious.

My reasoning is that if I put 2 or 3 pieces to the same plate it increases my chances of finding a good sector to choose from without having to use extra plates I was expecting to need more transfers so I put 2 per plate. Otherwise I only put one transfer piece to a plate if I know it's going to be clean
Edit: I've never used a partitioned plate but they kinda seem like a pain to deal with lol.
Thanks for the help!

Sorry I just noticed your beautiful Lophophora.
How old are they? Do you have a preferred soil mix?
I ask because I just ordered some seeds and Iβm very green with the cactus.

The all grain recipe was 8lbs American pale malt, 1lb crystal malt, 1lb white wheat. Sparged at as close to 170F as I could, then put it in a bucket overnight to cool.
The drippings from the grain, I added some to water that was boiled, then used that to cook some coir, cooled overnight in a bucket. The sub is predominantly coir, a couple handfuls of spent grain to supplement.
My grain spawn is popcorn.

1: Z-Strain mycelium busting through the casing at 7 days. If you expand it, it's hard to see, but on the right side near the front, it's growing up the liner. haha. 2: x7x mycelium busting through the casing at 3 days. 3: Some jars at various phases of growth, including x7x stipe clone, which grows faster than the x7x plin clone I have been loving. 4: My 1-month time lapse of jar spawning is coming along well.

pseudocasing, technically. 3/8 inch of fine verm. Stopped getting many side pins since I added that. Also probably helps keep out airborn contams.
I use coarse verm in the coir mix below.

IDK man wasn't it you that told me all TCs are gay or somethin'? lol
If I can find enough time in the next week or two I might sit down and get something written out. The problem though is that I don't have many/any pictures of the process and fahtster already has a very similar TEK going. But then again how many TEKs are there on here explaining how to boil oats
