Sweet! I don't have any holes in any of the 3 big tubs because I was following the shoebox Tek for it but I think I need to get some air flow in these puppies to get those fruits going ,I will be putting atleast a few holes in them today with micropore over it! Hopefully get some big fruits off these I'll throw some pics up once they are done tooπŸ€˜πŸ™Œβ€οΈ

These are what the surface conditions look like and just curious do you normally need to mist substrate with pinning and even after when you get fruit growing finally? I don't want to over water at allπŸ’―πŸ’―

I honestly used some common sense and thought about how I barley have any fae going into the tubs so I flipped the lids and put MP tape all around it these puppies should start popping up soon hopefully πŸ™πŸ”₯πŸŽ‰

So after my first grow I didn't throw my spent cakes but mixed them with new pasteurized coco coir and put them in a flower pot. At that point they had had maybe 5 flushes out of them. I've had three small harvests since per flower pot. Howeve my new harvests are producing very different looking fruits. They're thicker, have darker caps, and completely different shapes (not blobbing though).

Didn't take a picture pre-drying, but left is some of the new flowerpot harvest, right are fruits from its original grow.

So here's my question:
Is the complete change in appearance most likely due to the fact that it's very late flushes/old myc, or could it also be because I have a thicker layer of substrate, stacking it all in a flower pot instead of spreading it out in a tub? Or why do they look like different mushrooms?

Better FAE so they didn't stretch.

As the colony gets older and weaker you start to see some weird stuff. I always call them funhouse mirror shrooms when they get past 4-5 flushes. They’ll start being skinny at the bottom and fat on top or hourglass shape.

Cool thanks! I think I'll keep using my spent cakes like this, have a lot of plants around here that would probably not mind being repotted along with some of it as well. These are grown in the same pot as albinos, they're taking turns fruiting, kinda sweet to watch

i run shoeboxes, prefer the purple latch 6-qt.
one myco-quart to three qts CVG the about a 1 top layer, thicker for PE APE...
into an ezdial style sweaterbox as a FA

for monoos it's 54-quart turqoise latch
3-qts or one bag. of spawn mixed with CVG to 4-4.5 inches deep, then coir toplayer to the air-holes at 5 ish.

I landed a bunch of new varieties from a friend and a member on here. Haven't had anything new in years. They were all put on agar today - PE, Jedis, Blue magnolia, Jack frost.
Pretty stoked

Okay I'm really hoping soπŸ™ I'm still kinda new to spotting pins and how they exactly start but I'll get it down with time! The surface dries up a bit fast so I mist once every day and put the bag more low to keep moisture in

I like these 6qt shoeboxes. Usually just run them at 1qt spawn to 2-3qts CV with a 1/4" pseudocasing. That puts the sub surface right at or above the line on the tote. Plenty of headspace for a self sustained climate and mushroom growth but I dub tub them after a while anyway.

What do y'all think about the surface jw it's damp but almost no water droplets is it bad to keep gently spraying to get some drops on the surface every day? Just don't want anything to dry out
Lmfao I have 3monos, 2 20qt tubs, 3shoeboxes, and about 20 other jars or other little containers going right now I feel like I may need to get 2 dehydrators just for of themπŸ˜‚

Don't spray directly. Mist the air above the tub and let the droplets fall naturally onto the surface. You can mist as needed but just be careful. It's easy to over do it and you're more likely to get pins from a dry surface than a surface that got too wet, dried out and matted. I was misting my shoeboxes once or twice per day but it was because my subs were under hydrated and I hadn't started using Vermiculite yet.
