I agree that depending on an ultra alergen to peform like a hepa or worse yet, a flow hood, would not be a good idea.

But installing one in your HVAC system does greatly reduce contam load in the house drastically. Put one in your furnace.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

Yes it is very good. I wont be spending money on a hepa any time soon. I have proven it to be just fine. Time and time again. Just giving a cheap larger alternative to tiney dinky hepa filters from wallmart. Ban Walmart and Home D they screw up out local economy.

Off topic, but I agree. A good friend of mine lost their job at a local grocery store the day after a new super-walmart opened here. It was even stated in the paper the reason was due to loss of customers because of the new walmart. I hate walmart for this, they only start you off minimum wage no matter how many years experience you have (thus she did not get a job there, but one was offered). But, I still shop there...

Ok so why dont you guys try it before you tell me I am wrong. I have, and yes it is in the form of a flow hood. A rather ghetto but totaly legit flowhood.

Nobody is telling you are wrong, they are saying what you are using is not as efficient as a true HEPA filter. I assume yours works fine for some airborne contaminants, but a simple test of its efficiency would be to place a petri into the filtered flow. Then breathe heavily into the intake for a few minutes making sure your filtered breath would make it to the agar. Then incubate and watch for bacterial growth...

I think they would work great as a pre-filter for a HEPA system though. Thus extending the life of your expensive filter. I am going to go check them out, but I just got back from walmarl, lol...

I don't remember the supposed efficiency of this little unit, but it was also in the $30-$40 range. [I actually scored it at a thrift store]. A friend is using it these days, zero problems with petris or G2G. Because jars and plates can easily fit through the handholes, it's sort of like a flowhood. No doubt that one could be more 'careless' working with a bona fide unit, and the investment could be the key to overcoming some contamination problems. I think it's worth trying ghetto boxes/hoods. As far as contamination goes, some people can actually work on their kitchen counter, some need a minimal glovebox, and some may need the full-blown hood.
