Why does my display sometimes make a buzzing sound? 1

On my 2009 iMac, sometimes the display makes a buzzing sound. I know it's the display because the buzzing sound stops when I either turn up or down the brightness or when I turn the display off (without putting the computer to sleep, so just putting the display to sleep).
Why do you think this happens? I don't think there's anything "wrong" with the actual display, but this has been going on for a few years now. Sometimes it stops completely, sometimes the buzzing comes back after waking the screen up.

Aging components in the screen electronics. Sweet that it has gone so long before showing problems. They don't make monitors like that anymore.

I think their older displays are made by LG. But don't quote me on that.

There's not many LED panel makers, even these days... it wouldn't surprise me. Apple have never made panels. LG and Samsung have always been the big manufacturers since Japan lost dominance years back.
I have no idea who is making all the billions of small panels for Asia mobile market though, I bet there's some mega companies there I never even heard of before.

It's ironic how a company can become one of the richest in the world without actually manufacturing anything. Totally dependent on others for every single part of its products and business.

If the buzzing isn't being caused by a fan or anything like that inside the display, could it possibly be RF interference of some kind seeing as it's intermittent? Nearby cube chargers/transformers or bad grounds can sometimes cause things like your describing. Have you tried unplugging nearby appliances/anything on the same breaker to see if it still happens?

I have not tried that. It's connected to a 6 port outlet extension that you plug into the existing outlet. It has 6 different plugin spaces.

I would try bypassing that then and plug directly into the wall if possible, see if that changes anything.

Yeah, there's only 2 power outlets in my bedroom and they are located in the WORSE possible location. I'm extremely limited and I have to use a 6 port power outlet adapter. It honestly doesn't happen often enough that it bothers me.

Totally get it, I probably wouldn't bother with it either.
