Couple more days and I can test the theory out. I got my scope coming soon. I will see if I can get a halo culture and isolate it and slide it. Pictures will follow.

Also I have a few prints that have an aspergillus issue first flush but it is always slow and isolated. This would be a good candidate to test the halo under a scope.

Someone not on the forum suggested to me that it occurs when the myc eats into the agar instead of running across its surface. I had this issue with an APE plate a while back but it sorted itself out after a few transfers

Here's T1 to T3

Got the same thing on an RW plate at the minute too

I’ll preface by saying I don’t know anything about anything regarding the scientific side of cultivation, but I always thought the clearer growth had to do with the culture trying to find a spot with less competition. So like when it’s clear it’s moving as fast as it can away from potential competition until it fluffs up in a spot it feels safe to begin establishing itself.

Probably bullshit though lol :bongload:

Good to see it worked out. I've had this stuff on my plates for the last few months been really bugging me. But I still see people saying its mould.

If we have experienced people like Bod saying its normal then I'll take his word. I would like to know in more detail the science behind what it is exactly and why its happening though. It's always the first to create the ring around my transfer then slowly the myc fills it in.
