Similar amount to yesterday's harvest posted on the GA page. Figured I'd share here today.

What's the typical wood you find them growing on?
How long after rain?

Box elder is a common one. But I've had much success with wood chips of mixed hardwood varieties.

I'm hoping that after two full years of colonizing I'll at least get some fruits from my home made bed this spring, fingers crossed!

Nice finds, I'm excited to start hunting when it gets warmer here.
I was searching through Google maps today and found a couple spots that look very promising

Elvy is in the majic’s woodland Kickass man thank you for sharing so many good box elder fruit pics Does a portion of you finds seem sporeless? Or do you find ovoids reach huge size before they dump spores?

All of mine put out spores when they're open regardless of size.

Sweet! Some geographic locals! First time hunter this year. Thank you in advance for whatever you post so that I may engage my efforts accordingly and bolster my chances at the wild Oviod.

Are you finding ovoids before, the same time as, or after morels?

Awesome, glad to hear it! Trust me when I say they are out there and quite common in our area, just pay close attention and learn their habitats

I’m stoked cuz I’m pretty damn sure I have a sureshot location.. In a local county park not more than 10 minutes from me there was an ovoid positively ID’d by everyone’s favorite Alan, on the shore of a medium lake In Some wood chips …best part is that the lake is fed just a hundred feet away or so by “fluvial waters with an upland habitat of beech”. Got some habitat photos up thread somewhere around page 2 I think. They gotta be there haha. If there are, it connects to a fairly large network of woodland streams and small ponds. Soooo 🤞🤞

Soloist, Ditto what Moria said as far as prevalence and timing. Definitely another month - over past 6 seasons I’ve seen em mid-April twice and early may the rest - Based on what I know about one of Alan’s photos on MO I’m guessing you’re in an adjoining county but only a couple of miles from me so climate should be similar. I believe that union county photo was possibly the 1st ovoid posted for NJ.
There certainly have been many NJ hunters Posting finds here for about 10 years and if I’m not mistaken almost all finds are on chips particularly chip dumps in what might have otherwise seemed like “natural” habitat.
That said I still hunt the habitat and I’d be very happy to know if anyone in urban or somewhat urban Jersey has had regular finds other than in chips - there was old talk by psychedelic slug and others about under knotweed but somehow I think chips were involved.. I don’t think it warrants its own thread but I’d be curious to know what others have found in this area - my experience in Westchester county NY and pittsburg have been similar “hunt the stream side habitat, give up and find them in a chip bed on the way back to the car.”
Happy hunting G

I’m actually not in NJ, though you guys are still as close as I could get without someone else who is an actual local haha. I’m on the glacial shit pile/suburban hell NY to your east.
If all else fails I do have some golden teacher spores and I think B+ spores I’ve been sitting on. Have to try my hand at those. And then there’s Gym season…

Oh yeah! I have been keeping my eye out for Horsed areas, got a few spots in mind. Also know some good Cerulipes habitat up north
Gotta do some more research on those pans.
