Yeah man, sounds like a good idea! I got the first use out of them today after work, only it was to remove a steel splinter from my finger

I use those too for my plastic jar lids. If you’re using the rubber plug style injection ports that you press into a 1/4” hole, just be careful you don’t remove too much material with the countersink because it will open up the hole too much and the plug won’t get a good seal. But otherwise this tool is a must on plastic lids. For metal lids I just use a hole punch - so fast and clean.

Good advice!
Definitely gotta go slow for those precise holes
Is there such thing as a 1/8" hole-puncher?

One of my favorite and coolest tools I own but don't use much, the Roper Whitney No. 5 Jr punch

They still make them but the newer ones are not nearly as cool or well made. I got mine for like $30 on ebay.

Nice! How much did you pay for that Sand? What’s the capacity? Was it from that autoklav site?

I build this. Holla at ya boy. Still pinning down the exact capacity I think around 35 5lb bags.

I worked as a welder for a few years and studied up on pressure vessel design at great length to make my own.
The most important thing is I designed these to be easily attached to a water hose with a pressure regulator and put a vent right on top for air, so you can hydrotest it at 40 psi water as easy as hosing down a grill. This way I can test it quarterly since it's carbon steel not stainless.
I do want to make some stainless ones but that would put the price way too high. Steel is crazy $$ and even impossible to get right now. A little rust residue on the bags is no big deal for me.

Can you not get it treated/Coated for cheaper than the price of the SS you would need?

You don't want it coated on the inside because moisture will get trapped between the coating where it finds the tiniest pinhole and that leads to much faster and worse corrosion that makes a real bad problem.
This will last for at least 10 years of daily use. It has anode protection as well similar to a hot water tank but this only protects the bottom when/where the water sits. But this is where the real actual corrosion happens.
Also can make these propane powered too, cheaper and easier actually (non auto obs) Yall have no idea how tight the wiring in that box is. I'm really proud of that box.

I did realise that a few minutes after I posted! Same shit for oil pans. I’m still eyeing that one up on autoklav. The electric one with the 14L jar capacity. Got a few other purchases before that but it will be mine this year!

I was thinking about those autoklav units recently, make sure you get the ones with the temperature controller because the other ones work by running non stop and venting large bursts and that could pop bags.
