NE FL has been blooming this year, starting slowly.

In January there was a few spouts of rain that produced some small patches in cow patties. Maybe 100 wet grams out of 50 acres and 20 cattle.

February the same.

March was dryer and the cubies lay dormant. Saw some pans but not actives, though they usually travel together so they got my hopes up.

April showers brought the first major flushes in local fields. Nothing to write home about but when it rains for a day or two starting to see reliable pinsets.

May is about to hit and I'm doing my rain dance hoping to see bigger flushes of Pan. Cyan. and Cubes.

June and July and August, have your baskets ready friends. Billions of cubes will grow across Florida alone.

Sept, Oct. Nov. will see a ramping down, but depending on the rain (not too little or too hurricane-y) definitely possible to manage outdoor patches.

December and January have rare bloomers, probably good genetics from prints but I'm sort of paranoid about trading them online. I have only met two people in person who can do anything with the print library I'm collecting, dreaming of the day when you can just walk up to the local college and ask some undergrad to start some agar projects for you without Uncle Sam threatening to lock you in a cage for potentially cultivating naturally occurring agriculture...is that too much to ask?

Happy hunting amigos, San Isidro look after us.

Been pretty dry the past month. This one I found yesterday. We are supposed to get some rain through this weekend so next week should be better

We’ve had three days in a row of good rain in the Hillsborough area. I’ve checked what was my best spot last year, each night after the rain and haven’t even seen pins. Nor a spot of mycelium after flipping dozens of pattys. I’m super confused. It’s a prime spot with a good tree line, lots of tall grass and a bunch of grass fed cows. I searched for around 2 hours. Anybody else running into this?

not sure how long you've been coming to the spot but one possible reason may be because patches don't last forever, after a certain number of years the spot exhausts itself and stops producing fruits

I’ve been picking cubensis in the same cow field every summer for over 20 years now…

a field is different from a specific spot/area, and like I said, that's one of the possible reasons

Honestly the first time I picked it was last year around this time. ( I have tons of pictures in the Florida thread from last year) I don’t know what’s up with it. Tons of nonactives are growing in it right now, just no cubes or cyans. I checked it again last night. Tonight I’m going to two brand new fields I’ve never been to so hopefully they give me more luck.

Been a few weeks since I've been out to the field. Decided to go on a whim and was blessed.

Went out to a field yesterday. No cubes, but I did find some Gymns. Wasn't expecting that but I'll take it.

Weather has been perfect, but I've been out of the game for years now.  What's Florida looking like this July?  What's the panhandle doing?

--------------------
My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you.                                    -The Joekenorer

Found some cubes and pans for the first time in a couple years. I was so excited that I didn't take enough pictures
Now I'm hooked again, so I have to find some more fields.

Here are some pan cyan “blue meanies” that I spotted while driving past a cattle pasture this afternoon in Sumter Coumty. I knew the condition had been right. But I found panaleous antillarum in a field very close to the field these were in. They were virtually right up against the fence! Good handful for tonight adventure. These were the only accessible fruits in sight.

Yeah it's been quite slow for me, but mostly due to lack of field access
