Fluctuating temps...?
    #2768387 - 06/06/04 09:18 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hey.. here's the situation. Currently I'm using a reptile heat rock buffered by a few layers of towel to incubate a couple mycobags (in their original box). Problem is, this rock gets HOT because of the towel, and I'm afraid to keep it plugged in for more than, say, 12 hours at a time. Lately I've just been using it at night when it gets cooler. It's usually about 70-72* F in the room during the day (sometimes a bit warmer), and with the heat rock on the bags feel lukewarm.. not cool like they do at room temp. Anyway, will the repeated temp fluctuating between 70-something and 80-something screw up colonization, or will the bag just colonize a bit faster in the hours they're being heated?

Oh yeah, one more thing.. there's a little bit of condensation on the inside of the bags. Not a ton, but I just thought I'd ask whether or not that's abnormal either.. don't want my bags to dry out or anything. Better safe than sorry, right?
