Some varieties are more prone to it than most… MAZ was like that for me and also pf redspore. Maz was just very finicky.. aggressive and over active myc that was hard to nail down. Pfrs just liked to throw pins everywhere.. even under a liner that was attached to the sub
Eventually I just moved on from MAZ to a more user friendly variety

I’m going back to spore but couldn’t agree more with you and am very much enjoying my other varieties more. Maza is a lovely high though so I keep trying.
The genetics and myc HAVE been super crazy spikey and aggressive. I even made a whole post about an old PF Maza Cake where these genetics originated. It’s all that damn cakes fault.
Super stoked for some PE from your genetics to start fruiting. Spawned on 2/12 and it’s very much fully colonized. Just needs to fruuuuuuuit!

I'll probably use 4x6 indoors or so while these get sexed out and grow until like may, but these will all go outside. I got a couple 10*20ish plots I'll split them between.

I wouldnt go sniffing that too heavy. Verm and perlite dust aint so good for ya. Remember, perlite is volcanic glass.
But generally perlite, verm and glass doesnt have much of a smell

yeah, it's wet per the growing guide that came with the kit.
thanks again!

Just 2 cents. I'd put this meteo sensor standing, hanging or attached to wall. I suppose laying flat on the surface of perlite doesn't provide accurate info on chamber environment.

One more photo of this contaminated jar. Found some pins lurking right under the lid. So I decided to give them a chance, instead of just tossing out.

I don't know anything about the properties of verm but I do know quite a bit about perlite. No dust is good to breathe but perlite won't cause any long term negative health effects.
Perlite under a microscope looks a bit concerning. Each piece has sharp edges and looks similar to a piece of shrapnel from a grenade but even so, it can't attach to your lungs and your body will absorb it.
Diatomaceous Earth on the other hand... that's what you really don't wanna be breathing. Under a scope it looks nearly identical to Perlite except the edges have big hooks sticking off of the sides. Those particles attach themselves to your lungs and your body has a hard time getting rid of them.
Perlite is considered a nuisance dust whereas D.E. is known to be carcinogenic.
