Ukraine and Russia draw up neutrality plan to end war
Quote:
The biggest sticking point remains Russia’s demand that Ukraine recognise its 2014 annexation of Crimea and the independence of two separatist statelets in the eastern Donbas border region.
Ukraine has so far refused but was willing to compartmentalise the issue, Podolyak said.
“Disputed and conflict territories [are] in a separate case. So far, we are talking about a guaranteed withdrawal from the territories that have been occupied since the start of the military operation on February 24,” when Russia’s invasion began, he said.
Turkey’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, whose nation has sought to play a role as a mediator in the conflict, echoed hopes that negotiations could bear fruit after a meeting with Lavrov.
“I’m not going to go into the details on behalf of the two countries but I know that there are convergences between them,” Cavusoglu said.
However, UK defence minister Ben Wallace expressed scepticism about Russia’s commitment to diplomacy.
“There is a massive information campaign going on in this conflict, this war, and certainly when it comes to Russia you need to judge them on their actions and not on their numerous words.”
Blinken sets a standard for lifting sanctions: an 'irreversible' Russian withdrawal
Quote:
[Blinken] insisted that U.S. sanctions against Russia are "not designed to be permanent," and that they could "go away" if Russia should change its behavior. But he said any Russian pullback would have to be, "in effect, irreversible," so that "this can't happen again, that Russia won't pick up and do exactly what it's doing in a year or two years or three."
Blinken held out no prospect that Moscow is ready to consider any such terms. Russian negotiators have been meeting with their Ukrainian counterparts, but have made a variety of demands, including the explicit recognition of Russia's past seizures of Ukrainian territory.

Ukraine is absolutely hopped up on delusional copium. They are never, ever, under any circumstances getting back Crimea or the DPR and LPR republics.
They could end the fighting now if they agreed to these points, but they don't. Zelensky is a warcriminal who has gotten thousands of his people killed for nothing, and thousands more will die because of his totally inept leadership.
Instead of ending the war, he runs around all over the place trying to start a nuclear war in the form of a no fly zone which is impossible to enforce, all while cracked out of his mind on blow. Jesus christ what a completely useless imbecile.

I actually agree with most of that. Fuck war, let's get to the concessions. Especially the really obvious ones. But Russia is defaulting on loans and feeling the pain with every passing day too. Zelesnky is likely going to lean into it as long as he can to leverage a better position. And of course there will be more weapons and death the whole time.
It could be that Ukrainian people would suffer more as a whole if he concedes too early. I don't know all the details. But dragging out war is not a good thing and people are suffering and dying right now.

Yeah. At the very least it looks like Russia is moving into the next phase. They are losing the information war but do not seem to care. Putin basically said fuck the populace, rise up if you dare and we will smite you too.
No reason to play even remotely nice with Ukraine at that point.

My buddy is kind of a cheapskate and went to Costco to get fuel. It saves him 15 cents or whatever per gallon. He said he waited for damn near an hour.
The dude makes $120k a year, that's $60 an hour. He wasted $60 of his own time to save $1.50 on gas.
People are dumb.

People are dumb.
That assumes that time spent waiting would otherwise have been spent working.
It also assumes an hourly rate.
I agree with the conclusion of people being dumb, at least when it comes to cost-benefit analysis, but those two assumptions are pretty faulty.

The guy comes across as extraordinarily knowledgeable, and very pro-American as he got mad during the interview when it was suggested that the US intentionally targeted civilians during Vietnam. Watch the first hour of this video if you really want to gain an understanding of what's going on in Ukraine right now.
It's really worth an hour of your time, I promise.
It gets even more interesting towards the end of the hour, as he gets into the politics of why the US is lying about the war.
I hope some of you took the time to watch this video. Colonel Macgregor talked about the situation in Mariupol (10:11 - 11:11), where Nazi Azov forces are holding Ukrainian citizens hostage.
A theater was just bombed there.
Russia is blaming the Nazi Azov forces, and the West is blaming Russia. Of course, I have no idea who did the bombing, but Colonel Macgregor correctly predicted exactly this type of thing would happen with Azov using Ukrainian citizens as human shields.

Predicting that combatants will use civilians as human shields doesn't really require a Nostradamus.

It’s a tried and true excuse to blame the other side when you commit a war crime.

Russia doesn't really have any business fighting Ukrainian forces inside the Ukraine, Nazi or otherwise. The entire thing is a bit silly. If it spilled over into Russia, then maybe, but we don't have any evidence that happened.

Maybe he did it during his work day.
I've known highly paid people who go grocery shopping while on work time.
20 years ago I'd often leave work for 2 hours to drive home to case spawn & harvest shrooms.

My job is a little bit the opposite. They don't really care if I go grocery shopping during normal hours. However, when I am needed I am needed. There's also the issue that I travel a lot and traveling is like the biggest waste of company hours ever, but it has to be done and they don't really monitor where I am.

some are saying its Ukraine bombing its own people with nato to cover up the labs there. Other people say its Russia raamping things up because they dont want western influence in Ukraine. At the this point who the hell knows whats really going on.
