Who makes 75+ dollars an hour?

How far would you move to get that job?
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

I just did the math on what I make (I'm salaried) compared to this figure, and $75/hour would allow you to live a super comfortable lifestyle, without having to worry much about bills and having some nice things. If you lived smartly and relatively modestly, you'd even have money left over to continually invest in your retirement. This is even factoring in a wife and maybe a couple of kids.
I would move pretty far for that bump in salary. I work in a specialized, in-demand role in technology with a master's degree, other certificates, and nearly a decade of experience. While I've crept closer to the $75/hour over the years I'm definitely still not there yet, even though I now live a pretty comfortable lifestyle, I also have a wife and two kids and I'm the sole provider, so it definitely doesn't go as far solo. (to be vague without using exact numbers, I'd have to get a raise of +33% to make $75/hour).
My wife has made it perfectly clear if a deal or job opportunity comes up that's too good to refuse, she's open to living almost anywhere. So we have flexibility too. I've passively sniffed around for openings that I meet the requirements for the job and have seen some bigger salaries but honestly I'm super happy with where I'm at now and it seems like I keep getting nice raises every where so "eventually" I can get there.
Sorry that was super long - coming down from a nice introspective roll on MDMA and this thread caught my eye!
How far would travel for that salary? To me, I'd be pretty flexible for the nice bump in salary. I feel I could give my kids a better life if I had more money I could be putting away for their future - just putting away what I can though.

Iāve made that much but all it makes me want to do is work less. The most precious commodity to me is free time. Good jobs and bad jobs both fuck up your life by stealing all your time and energy.

It's like a hit of a really addictive drug or something I'm not even going to call it a "high" but whatever it is- as soon as you realize everything you're doing after that is worth *less* than that? Feels agitating. It made me start getting angry at every single little thing that could possibly add to more time for me to get my money vs the amount of labor needed for the job.... Not a good place to be. I'm still struggling with the merit myself but I really really think there is some value behind the idea of "just work eating a shit sandwich and you'll always be happy".... I haven't found whatever that merit or truth is but I know it's there..... Like no one is going to pay you to just hang out and be a degenerate all day.. that isn't work and if it was it wouldnt be worth anything because everyone wants to do it right Err to address the the fucking question- lol- I wouldn't. I would probably chuckle at the offer and instinctually tell myself "this job offer probably isn't right for me" recently on my search I've been looking for lower and lower paying wages... part of it is the amount of responsibility I am willing to put of my name on.... part of it is the amount of money I'm willing to let people put my responsibility on.. One of them is cheaper aha. I am damn close to letting all my bills run overdue and just hanging out at home all day and tending to my plants and starting new plants, getting more into hunting, etc. Sick of feeling like a greedy heathen just to support people who are actually even bigger greedy heathens than I am- when I'm just desperately trying to be happy without stepping on anyone
This is definitely something that happens as people move on up. It's good to keep your humbleness about your work ethic (if that makes any sense) as you may very well have to work harder for less money at some point in your life. I alternate between lucrative work I don't enjoy vs not nearly as lucrative work that requires much more effort, and time invested; but is very fulfilling.
Helps to balance my expectations for both of them
I believe that feeling of being important and needed (something lots of people only get from work) is essential to a healthy self esteem and life view.
That was a long winded rant and is just my two cents

I buy and sell sports cards boxes, do retail arbitrage and botting...ext...Idgaf don't judge...I'm a house dad my steady cash income is 650.00 a month I collect in rent to fund me flipping sports cards or pay a bill. On a good drop...I'll probably come close to that figure per minute im spending sourcing. Hell I take my kid everyday to walmart to walk around learn pruces on the shelf, numbers, deals, we buy pokemon cards, sports cards, clearance legos, pools to sell on amazon 8n the summertime out west to rich snobbs that pay double for everything. Fucking grille assesories...I stocked up on steak before all this sgit happened... I got my 75 an hr out of walmart for damn sure. Fuck jobs in the sense of working for somebody. My buddy bits on ride services in a bigger city 2 hours away and sleeps at a hospital parking lot at night and rideshares all week away from his kids and c9nes back and sports xar hunts on the weekend. He told me he did 700 in 20 hours in rides, and 1500.00 in arbitrage items while doingb it. He goes way harder in the paint then I ever would consider. But you can get whatever you want out there. Get on youtube.

Yikes. While you appear to be doing a decent job of analyzing and capitalizing upon supply & demand imbalances (which I have no problem with), the "rich snob" comment kind of makes you look like the snobby one here. For the record, I'm a west coaster who bought an inflatable 10' pool for 3 times its typical retail value on eBay after the pandemic hit. My 4 year old was 2 at the time and the local pool had halted lessons. Since I love being around water, especially the ocean, it's incredibly important to me that my son will be comfortable and capable around water as well... so despite knowingly overpaying for the pool, it was still money well spent. For how much use I got out of it, I would have spent a similar amount for access to the community pool anyway.

I only fuck with coleman 18 footers...not enough profit on those 10's even though during the pandemic those did get a bigger margin. The rich snobbs out west comment...While certainly not everyone within a vicinity could be considered "rich snobbs" The general economy of "out west" CALIFORNIA. has allowed for such ridiculous retail discrepancies to transpire. I have never lost a wink of sleep selling things off the shelf for profit or to people who live in CALI. You had a good story but pools are technically considered a "luxury good" and I would also consider your state a luxury state...I still have to look over my shoulder for having a joint in my pocket. I basically forfiet luxeries and freedoms and being warm, to live in an area that allows prices of basic, luxury, and essential goods affordable for your average person. I'm sorry you felt attacked lol. I listen to all your crypto stuff. I follow the california homeless situation on youtube for what thats worth and actually care about why that situation is going down over there like that. I mainly capitalize off of rich, spoiled, fat kids who run sports cards youtube channels in the basement of their parents mansions. Sorry my veiw is so simplistic.

I just can't keep my brain inside my ears anymore. I know that I want a lower paying job so people can afford to give me more hours, longer commitments, better benefits, easier responsibilities, etc... but then I get to these jobs contracts whatever and it's like I turn into a retarded drunk werewolf or something. My mind stops thinking about taking punches and turns into "Ok fuck you I want my money and I want a drink" Ok so I think I'll take something minimum wage thinking I'll have minimum responsibility but no you still have to do maximum effort even though... it's the minimum wage... but then why not just stay home and not get paid at all? I know hard work pays off... but not not if you're just digging a ditch and then filling it every single day. How do other crazy people pay for their stays in the loony bin? I've been through inpatient before I'm starting to think fuck it I just want to be a crazy person forever, just throw me in a padded room and liquify my brain evidently I'm not using it anyway

I used to make about that when I contracted in the early IT days. Then I chose heroin instead. rip.
I'd move anywhere in the states damn near for 150k a year though as long as the cost of living isn't crazy like san fran or NYC.

I'm close to $60 now. I'm moving to the middle of no-where for it, but with the low cost of living it's going to feel like a lot more. Houses are priced between 1 and 2x my annual income. That's a great metric for afforability.

..... every "former heroin addict" I meet is really quick to drop politeness and easy to agitate --- what the fuck is that ? it's harder for me to deal with than meth head paranoia and shit seriously I'm losing count of all the times I see former dirt heads snap and yell at somebody because they're just "in a bad mood" or whatever o.O

Hey be careful man, don't get cocky and try to get a "fixer upper" that's a great way to quickly lose all that fun "extra money" ahaha. Been there before with a cheap rental thought we were winning until it got hot and then we realized the place had light/air leaks and german roaches in the crawlspace o_o

As A former Heroin addict myself, this is interesting and I don't necessarily disagree. I consider myself to have a rather harsh, and realistic veiw of whats happening while fullying knowing I actually "know nothing" i'm full of shit, we all are full of fucking shit until we cross over. Its possible with death, dreams, and psychadelics to hit the on ramps. Then we're all full of cosmic shit. I'm still a pretty nice guy. But after addiction I might have noticed a raw tone, it's truley been a double edged sword I am no longer this naive "gump" walking the street. I was 10 months clean and sober on my own in 2015 and got nailed by a semi on my way to work stone cold sober...I got throuwn right back in the cycle of addiction not by choice and have been through SO MUCH SHIT since the night I graduated. My house burnt down 15 minutes before I walked my graduation ceremony while me and my family were at the restaurant eatinh before hand. My career choice in machining was a pure fucking let down in 2008 in my area, and my only legal troubles have ever been from simple possession of cannabis in one of the legal reform hold out states. I have many factors into my raw veiws of society, It's simply too much to unload, but chemically...mayve there is something to this...not maybe...we have severely fucked with our brain chemistry with drugs not in the positive comsmic sphere and there are consequences... I have MITIGATED these mental dynamics at times with psychadelic therapy and played a huge role in my final push for opiate sobriety. Receiving a 160k lump some from a teuckimg accident was too a factor in why I got my shit together. It was a convergance of these things that swung the needle for me. I still to this day have like raw, judgemental, views...but I mean I believe them to be right, hell some are based on some of the things I've read here from people that I felt were pretty spot on. I have compassion, my daughter helps with that...You know what else does...hustling...like clean, legal, hustles...thats a whole other doubled edged sword but if you can get on a big grind and balance it, I believe you can chemically effect shit upstairs for certain, And start compounding interest mentally alongside your colection or bank account.

I have some theories about this but they tend to piss people off and itās really just my own made up pseudoscience.
Whether fair or unfair or my loss or theirs I donāt fuck with junkies or recovered junkies.

Long term opiate use in people can cause PAWS, sudden mental withdrawal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, discomfort and even pain. It usually lessens with time but for some long time users it never fades. Anhedonia is another part of it. The highs are less high, the lows are less low. You just feel less joy or sadness with everything. It's fairly normal for recovering and long term recovered addicts to have mood swings. I still do and I'm many years clean.
