After getting spaghetti looking mushrooms in a few test tubs I upped the FEA and gave more light and they seem much happier. It's a lot about the culture but the environment plays a big part.

Tested 1.5 g last night ,my son and his friends all took 1-2 g as well.
It was interesting to say the least, might just give some more a try later, they're great

I saw my first nat pin today. I wish I could get a good pic of the surface but sandbag. It's really wild looking like patchy light green in places.

Is it normal with nats after spawning for the substrate to smell a bit... Sour I guess? The spawn smells way different from cubes to me as well, still mushroomy, but the jars I spawned were very clean. Just had an odd, almost sour smell in the substrate bags.

Mine smell sorta like a combo of cubes and oyster. I actually think its pretty pleasant. Seems like others get funky though.
Things moving along nicely in the 50qt. Looks like the small voids in the overlay are creating a good microclimate for pinning.
First signs of pins a few days earlier.

Here's the same culture in the Martha, cased with 50/50. Spawned it like a week+ after the tub so no pins yet. Aerial growth looking a little less poofy.

I always like to share my mega failures. And today is no different so check out these shitty fucking nat sandbags.
Literally not even worth harvesting.
They were plate clones and colonized nicely very white and pretty then suddenly started to tan in patches.
The mushrooms are maturing less than an inch tall and extremely sparse. Fuck

Take spores and clone that sheeit and see what the next gen gives you. Phenos from subsequent gens should give more of an insight to if theyve crossed since all you have to go off with spawn crosses is phenotypical.
That being said i dont think that looks lile nat or ape so it could be a cross. Keep up the great work. Love seeing your grows

Got a weird bag going on here. Green mold showed up before it pinned, but I left it anyway.
It pinned and keeps pinning and growing fine.
Got a few snakes, and quite a few fatty stem/bowling pin looking ones. Not sure what to look for in cloning, I don't have the workspace to try out all kinda of different clones although I'd love to.
Pretty surprised at the absolute lack of any overlay. This is my first bag from MS.

Natalensis appears to not care too much about this green mold, and has already started growing it's own mycelium overtop the green

The oyster cube combo smell is dead on. Mostly mushroom with a hint of fish. Like a lakeside during mushroom fruiting season. It's actually kind of wonderful. I also find if you mist the overlay a little too much it makes the smell more powerful.
