How many people would purchase a turnkey mushroom chamber?
    #2765751 - 06/05/04 08:51 AM (19 years, 10 months ago)

I'm considering creating a mushroom chamber similar to our sunlight shed chamber (http://www.sunlightsheds.com/images/frontofbox.jpg),except completely modified for fungus growth.

This poll is to help me get a better idea of the market for this product. Keep in mind it'll probably be in the 500-800 range for just about every feature available to completely automate it.

Also what options would you like to see?

I am thinking about 5 seperate growth chambers, hepa air filters for air sterilization, maybe a hydrogen peroxide bubbler, seperate adjustable humidifaction for each chamber, seperate lighting for each chamber (just a simply small lighting system), temp/humidity gauge/controls, drying conversion ability.

What other options would sound good?

What price would you be willing to pay?

Please be honest!
How willing would you be to spend $500-800 on this sort of chamber?
You may choose only one

Its just to cheap to build a nice pmp with geo-lite or a martha closet setup is still alot cheaper than 500.. but if you could build something that was insanly awesome with a cheaper price then id considered it..

Just my 2 cents :gd_icon:

I'd have to agree with fungushungry . . . I've got exactly what you described - built myself and I still haven't spent $500 dollars on it yet. Even if I include the pressure cooker & substrates, it's still less than that. Don't get me wrong, that's an incredible idea, but still a little pricey.

Besides . Half the fun in growing fungi is using your creativity to build this stuff for as cheap as possible. While your waiting for your mushies to colonize or fruit.. you can start building other fun stuff.

I think you would have better luck building something for commercial growers if you are going to charge that much..

What about the hydrapod thing.. Do people stil luse that? Did it work out?

i've got to agree with the rest of the guys here. price is too high.
I even think these are overpriced http://www.mushbox.com/mushroom-kits.html

Do some re-figuring of your costs, and let us know what you come up with. I would definitely like to see a grow chamber that had an incubator in the bottom of it. That would be a good selling point, I believe.

you should be able to make 100% profit selling grow kits for 100$

all you need is two rubbermade boxes and a fish tank heater and there is the chamber fruiting and inucubator in one thats 15$ then you need food and one qt jar then your set my frist set up was nice and cost about 30$

Very true one time, foaf has awsome grow with just the basics, tub in tub w/ heater.  Fruiting chamber rubber maid container and perlite.

For someone who has a LARGE operation, then maybe, but for the average Joe,  I think its just to much.  How hard is it to manually fan and mist?

thats a small small only a few lbs from what i heard but thats not the point the point is that its only less than 40$ to make and you can control the amount say you put the one jar in there and and then case that in one tray and put that tray back in you would still in to manualy spray it i would cost more for a humidifer and shit

The fact that i could lock it up would be nice. Also if it had a seperate chamber for incubation and heatless drying would be ultra cool. A few chambers for fruiting where i could set the humidity different for each chamber that way if i had casings going in some and cakes in another and such. it would need to be able to hold alot of jars and cakes and picked fruits. and be totaly automated. oh and a water resivior big enough so i wouldnt have to fill it daily.. then it might be worth 5..

i dunno though.. like these guys said you can set up a badass automated setup for 200 bucks. big enough to make shrooms for a small army

That's not pretty cool.

Itd be easy to lower price im sure... U only need the cheap humidifiers.. U can buy those greenhouse things for like 30-40 bucks now.. Couple computer fans and a shitty light are cheap too and tis all easy to take apart for cheap shipping.. Id like to say id buy one but im very happy wiht what iv got.. And spent a very large amount of cash on it.... But its pro stylez..haha
