I just pulled another dozen cherry tomatoes off the vine today along with my first 3 ripe cayenne peppers. I'll pick up some chicken and spinach tomorrow and make my wifes favorite dish - creamy Tuscan chicken a few of my other tomato varieties are getting really close to harvest, I have about another dozen jalapenos nearly ready to pick and all of my other pepper plants are heavy with green pods. I keep forgetting to take pictures but I will try and post some this coming week
One of my neighbors is getting ready to go in for (what sounds like) a fairly serious surgery and it sounds like she'll be down for the majority of next season. Unless she makes a faster recovery than expected (which I obviously hope for) I'm going to offer a trade: a full season of fertilizer and weekly mows in exchange for me to use her 25'x25' garden that is only growing weeds at the moment. My crews already do a lot of work in my neighborhood so it will cost me practically nothing, she struggles to get around so she would be appreciative and I'm tired of driving 10 miles round trip to tend to my garden. We'll see how things go!

They are pretty spicy, but still pretty sweet and solid. They are better trough the winter for sure.

Any of you guys eating the radish pods???
I love radish pods. They are crunchy and spicy a lot like the root but one good plant will give you a whole bucket full... They are great pickled too.
Historically radishes were originally grown for pod production and breeding for tasty roots came later on...

Not a bad haul for today Jalapenos, Cayennes, a handful of my Sunrise Bumblebee cherry varieties (still have the calyx attached), a couple dozen of a mystery cherry tomato variety and two ripe Green Zebras. I think we'll finally be having fresh salsa this weekend!!

Calcium or phosphate deficiency? I transplanted to new fancy potting soil. Hopefully that works.

Phosphorous is my guess. Also, what's that dark purply thing in your first picture above what appears to be a halved squash/cucumber?

More NP and K. Lack of calcium would look like dead brown spots.

Third flush on the cilantro. That variety is a winner. That's a yellow thai plant and some butternut and black beans under the trellis.

Just a lot of stuff to eat and there an azzie bed in the middle of all that. No idea if the azzie will fruit but I won’t hesitate to plant it in my garden beds again.

Well, with how well I maintained this thread it shouldn't come as any bit of a surprise that all of my tomatoes went to shit this season lmao. I got 2 batches of salsa and like 3 BLTs. Much shame, such bad
BUT! My peppers have been bangin'! This was todays harvest:
Left: Hawaiian sweet-hot with some 7pot bubblegums. Right: Korean Hot and Yellow fever.
I love the sweet-hots!! Sweet/fruity flavor about on par with a habanero, maybe a little less. I'll have these every year
Left: Ghost x Scorpion, right: Jalapenos
This is about my 3rd harvest of this size so far this season and it looks like I'll get at least one more, maybe two. All together, probably not 'thread worthy' but I've had a good time and have learned a LOT. Next years garden will be SO much better

Tomatoes are coming on strong now. Big Orange, Striped Roma, Red Stripe, Snow White, Black Cherry and Black Krim. In a race with the birds and chipmunks.

Fuckin' hell those are beautiful! I'll have to shop around for those seeds for next season
As I've already said my tomatoes went to absolute shit due to my poor engineering/management skills, but my peppers are still bangin! Here's my most recent update:
1.5lbs of ghost x scorpion purred down to make .25 quarts of fermenting mash lol. That's going to be one sinister hot sauce
I left too much headspace in the jar so it didn't form a CO2 barrier fast enough and the kahm yeast/lactobacillus forms these nasty looking pellicles in response to oxygen. Totally safe to eat just hard to look at lol. Gonna let this bad boy ferment for several months while I figure out what the hell to do with this jar of fire

How long does that devil sauce ferment? I like adding hot sauces to mayonnaise to cut the heat a bit and spread the flavours. Made some nice BLT’s with those tomatoes with piri piri sauce and mayo.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have some jars with stuff on top.
I found fermenting pepper chunks in a brine with a weight on top much more forgiving. Mash ferment doesn't taste any better to me.

I think at minimum the peppers should ferment for about 3 weeks but that's a little rushed. These are probably going to ferment for about 6 months, or as long as I can wait - the longer the better. good idea to make the mayo/hotsauce sauce, bet those BLTs were dank!

Interesting you can't tell a difference between mash/brine. I've read that brine is better and mash is better so I think it's mostly preference The only time I did a brine ferment I didn't have enough headspace so my brine kept purging out the airlock lol. I still have quite a lot of peppers so I'll try another brine and see if I can notice a difference
