Does anyone else enjoy eating Purslane?
You know that weed you find creeping through the cracks in the sidewalk anywhere in the world...

It is also a weed in my garden, and I just let it go and eat it up.
I realized last year it is edible and very nutritious. I love it.
Just in case you have been killing it. Give it a try.

I own a lawn-care business - I have made a handsome living spraying and killing that shit lol. Never once has it crossed my mind to eat it....ever. I will admit that I'm curious, but I don't think I'll ever try it. What's it taste like?

Kind of like cucumber with the barest hint of acid and salt

I love purslane. It's great for making phosphorus more available to nearby plants as well.

I like the taste. Didn’t know about the phosphorus. Interesting.

Damn birds!
My tomatoes aren't even ripe and I've lost several to birds.
And apples too. I put netting over (some of) the apples this year.

I've gotten a few dozen ripe cherry tomatoes so far with quite a few full-sized varieties that will be ready to pick hopefully in about a week. I'll have another dozen or so jalapenos to pick and a few of my cayennes are finally starting to turn red

I started my tomaters in February, planted in ground mid-May. I'll happily trade you zones  the extended forecast shows our Highs will be above 97 for the next 10 days....even our lows wont get below 80. I fucking hate summer lol

I’m watering every day, not the lawn! You must be out there twice a day if you don’t have soaker hoses or emitters.
I love summer in the early morning and in the evening. From 10 until 2 I find something to do inside. Wifey wonders why I’m up before 6.
We need rain here. Lawns are brown and dormant. Crops are hurting. Farmers are having to irrigate, diesel isn’t cheap and the ponds are drying up like it’s August.

Definitely agree on summer schedules. It’s lovely early morning and late night and DEATH in the day.

Woodchuck ate my cilantro. I'm going to eat the woodchuck. Wouldn't be the first time.

Calorie wise your way ahead.
Pretty nice haul this morning of basil shiso, a couple beets, and an early walla walla.  Tops aren’t quite falling yet, but they look awesome, corn is staring to throw out some silk, tomatoes are just starting to get some color, sweet potatoes are finally starting to put some growth out and delicata is invading everywhere!
