40 tomatoes in at my buddies yesterday. It’s a good start. The chickens get the boot when we leave. Are the wild mints as aggressive at spreading as the garden center mints? I only keep one and I keep it in a large pot. I love bees.

Yes most mints will spread like that.

wow, amazing! did you scoop them up in that box? do you have a hive for them?
I'd bloody love to have bees but I'm in a rented house and I have about 8 other gardens within 10m of mine... too much hassle ya know?

I cut the branch out of the tree and put it in that box. Then I dumped them into a hive box. The queen did an impressively fast mating flight a few days later and now has three full size combs built full of thousands of eggs. That is a very healthy swarm. I'll probably get honey from them this year.

Nice looking plants. What’s the one with the wide potato like leaves? When did you start them? I started 60 plants and got requests for more so ended up at 110. Kept 10 for the yard. Tomatoes dehydrate beautifully or freeze them intact. The skin slide off when they thaw out.

Hot as shit here too, but no rain.

Got a cherry tomato plant, one jalapeño plant, three bell pepper plants, and two small medium spicy pepper plants. My buddy gifted them to me. A little late in the season, but I am going to make it work. The middle bucket is some outdoor mush, white teacher variety.

Damn that's chilly. Peppers definitely love that hot weather. I am kind of concerned mine aren't getting enough sun where they are, but I am going to try it out. If they need more I can always move them.

Coolest spring in decades in Ontario. Now they just posted a heat warning for the next 2 days. It’s 66F right now, tomorrow afternoon is suppose to be 92. Tomatoes will be happy. I’ll be in the shade with a beer.

I’m new to hydro and had no idea the plants would drink so fast…my strawberries and my roma plant both drank all the water in the reservoir without my knowledge and died
Pepper plants tho are coming in strong and I’m keeping an eye on the water level now like a good farmer…got some swiss chard also, never grown or even eaten it before but it look’s almost ready to start eating leaves off it

Yeah, my dad and a buddy of mine who both live further outside of the city had that problem until they both installed electric fences. They also both have good sized gardens. I don't know if it is the small size of my set-up, or if the city deer don't know what vegetables are anymore, but they don't mess with my veggies. This is the fourth year I have done this here.
