Sounds cool. Had the same issue with 6 of those non stop habanero bushes and a grew tabasco peppers...until the cold killed it I have never seen so many peppers. It leaned back facing into the sun in a fan shape and hundreds and hundreds of little peppers. Wasn't expecting it but those little fuckers are stupid hot! Was expecting more flavor than heat and it lit my ass up. I started putting like a half in a batch of taco meat and it was like dumping a shit ton of cayenne in there. Jeez....wtf?!? I just realized what time it is and I am still up. Well time for a little sleep I guess.

Nice to see you on that fermented chili sauce train as well, it's just soo much better.

I planted some tomatoes for my 5yr old, as well as some flowers and a butternut plant, unfortunately I don't have as much space as I used to to grow veg.
Previously I grew a plantation of sweet basil and made kgs of pesto, I also grew fields of Persian white poppies.

Buying a 4m tunnel soon for a few things as well, need to grow veg again.

I love fermented sauce, but honestly I don't discriminate lol. Hot sauce gets doused on everything in my house. I might actually have some basil seeds so I may as well give them a try - fresh pesto on pasta sounds wonderful right now. I could easily fit a small tunnel or greenhouse in my yard I just don't have enough sun on my property. Fortunately my dad is nice enough to loan me a good sized plot in his yard!

Any of you other greenthumbs have an opinion about why my Piri Piri plants are yellowing and curling?

I've done quite a bit of reading about it and none of the common causes seem like the culprit for me. The first picture almost looks like a mosaic disease but I can't tell. This is the only pepper variety I have doing this which is strange to me. I'll take it by the county extension tomorrow and see what they have to say about it

What are you feeding the piri piri and what soil is it in currently?
Looks a bit mg deficient possibly, do an Epsom salt rinse and give it a bump in nitrogen from a good foliar feed.

Last year I got the leaf curl like that.
I read that it was from too much light.
The leaf curls up to protect itself.

All my peppers and tomatoes are in a soil blend called Ocean Forest. Once I transplanted them into this blend I gave them all a half strength feeding of this liquid fertilizer which has is a 2-.5-2 analysis with an additional .5% of available water soluble Mg. After that half strength feeding I switched to plain water because I was told the soil blend has enough nutrients to feed the plant for a month or more.

I read the same thing but it didn't seem to make sense in my situation, especially since these were the only two plants doing this and all my plants are being grown in identical conditions.

I ended up taking the plants to my local hydroponics shop and they basically determined it was some sort of virus, most likely tobacco or mosaic. I trashed one plant and cut the potentially infected growth off of the other hoping it would put up new healthy growth and act like nothing happened. We'll see what comes of it

Well it now appears that I've got the beginnings of an aphid infestation on my hands. The undersides of my cayenne plants new growth leaves are covered with what looks like 1,000s of clear eggs.

Are these little fuckers coming from the potting soil? I'll stop back by the hydroponic store today or tomorrow to get a natural pesticide and hope for the best

I have dealt with an infestation before that ended up killing the plants. I planted some ferns where my 2 old dogs are buried and when they started to look sick I checked and there were tiny red eggs all over the underside of all the leaves. I tried everything I could but they ended up dying off. My big issue since I am not running a garden currently is slugs going after my cacti. Those bastards love to go after the newly sprouted and soft young paddles.

Good luck and I hope you are able to kill those things off. Have you tried the dawn and water in a spray bottle? I used that in my garden with good success.

Yeah these little bastards have me nervous. I'm going to hose off all the plants in my sink later tonight to try and at least dislodge most of whatever these are and I was planning to run to the hydroponic store tomorrow to pick up something similar to neem oil. Hope it works

Best of luck on killing off those pests. There are friggin parasites everywhere! Never heard of neem oil. If I get another garden going and have issues I will look into it. Well I am off to get cleaned up for another SAB session.

Still no word yet on what those weird bumps are on my cayenne plants  a lot of my peppers new growth is yellowing, one of my scotch bonnet plants is getting some brown spots on one of its leaves and some of my tomato plants are randomly dropping entire leaves so I'm a little bit stumped. I'm going to give them a feeding today or tomorrow and hope that solves the yellowing.

This is all a learning process for me so I can't get mad about it but this is all quite frustrating, especially considering all the horticulture classes I've taken in recent years lol.

I also apparently have forgotten how to count and read a calendar - I have about 6 weeks left before these go in the ground but I've been saying I have 6 weeks left for a month  my tomatoes are going to outgrow their little space pretty quickly so I'm going to have to get creative if I'm going to keep those plants. In all honesty though I probably even have time to start new tomato seeds if I need to lol

Spring is almost here so pretty soon all my plants will start spending the day outside and I'll bring them in at night so space won't be as big of an issue in a couple weeks.

I wish I could put you in touch with my parents. They have been gardening for 30+ years and my dad used to own a garden center. He really knows his shit when it comes to plants. I have had hir or miss success with gardening myself so I hope you get it all sorted out. If you have pix along with species and description of the problem I may be able to ask him. Also need to know what region of country you are in for reference. Just figured maybe a fresh perspective on it might help. PM me if you would like me to ask.

I blew up that pic of leaf damage on a laptop as much as possible and it looks like spots of the leaf have been eaten.  Regardless of what they are, most small insects can be kept away by spraying a mix of water and oils such as lavender, peppermint, lemon etc

Neem oil works good to but you have to be careful not to use too much in the mix because the right amount suffocates the bugs by coating their exoskeletons which they breath thru, but too much will clog the plants stomatas which is what they breathe thru and the plants suffer a slow and agonizing death over the course of a few weeks.  I killed off a whole room full of pot plants that way once...it was a sad sad month watching them

Thanks for all the help and suggestions! I just took all my plants outside to get some natural sun on them and I gave them a feeding. The peppers look more green in actual sunlight so I think that's just a trick my lights were playing on me, but some of them are showing what looks like Bacterial Leaf Spot. I'll post a picture at some point.

I've been meaning to stop by the hydroponic store to get either neem oil or something similar that they recommend but I haven't done that yet. I'll have to wait until Monday to go but that is definitely something I need to be proactive about.

That sucks you lost all your plants, Stallion - I'll be devastated if all these tomatoes and peppers go tits up before I ever even get to make my first salsa lol.

When my pepper plants had issues like leaf and pepper spot rot or odd spots adding a little calcium nitrate seemed to help. I was told it doesn't take very much. Idk if that is the issue but you seem to know a bit more about it than me. I usually buy the ones from home cheapo or wherever that are already growing. I have had very poor luck germinating from seeds either from packs or dried and saved the year before. I do hope your garden succeeds..frustrating after all that set up, soil prep, etc and it craps halfway through sucks.

Well none of the issues I was griping about with my peppers seem to be getting any worse or really causing any damage so I think it was just a bunch of noob panic

Most of my peppers are becoming root bound though: they seemed to have quit growing vertically, they're starting to set flower buds and the roots are coiling around their 'pot' so I'm going to repot 1 of each pepper variety into a larger container to see if I can't make them happier for the next 3 or 4 weeks before they go in the ground.

I started my tomatoes WAY too damn early. They're over a foot tall, becoming root bound and I'm running out of room to keep them lol. I might actually be better off starting new tomato seeds at this point. I'm even considering just taking propagative cuttings from them in an effort to save space. Might be an interesting experiment

My toms and peppers always got too big for the solo cups before putting them in the ground.  I don't think it'll hurt anything to wait on transplanting them.  Transplants always add some stress to the plants so you might want to just do it once.  They'll take off once outside anyway

Also, my peppers always seemed to make an early set of buds too.  They may make a few small peppers then starting growing in size a lot after they get outside and start back to making blooms again after a while.  Usually half of the year's peppers come in the last harvest in the fall

ah the perennial problem... holding off on sowing seeds
you just never know when's going to be good to get outside, maybe a cold frame could be a good halfway house?
I'd bloody love to be able to sow as many seeds as you but my garden's tiny, so don't have enough room, it'll just be 3 tomatoes and 6 peppers for me this year (along with about 300 other flowers/ veggies to sell to my clients)
and a couple of auto's of course

what's the weather like with you? we had a warm spot (got excited, sowed a lot) then a bloody cold snap with frosts!!
not good
:stanhopefacepalm:
