In my very limited experience, I would say, no fuckin way are they 2 days old! I can cream one up in 4-5 days but that’s generally what mine look like after a few weeks. I call bullshit. Also why are they green!?

Exactly, it's an insta post from someone I know proclaiming some new recipe yet when I told him about agar in lc he had never heard of it. Maybe he's on to something but his work doesn't inspire me to think this is possible, seems 100% like a marketing ploy to sell more kits and syringes.
Myc hunt- I'm sure it's to push his agar "art" which he can charge more for. Green lc must be better than normal lc..... surely?

I wrote the agar in lc write up a couple years ago here on the shroomery and I havent shared it anywhere else. I dont know if others have posted about it in other places, but if not and your friend isnt on the shroomery then they likely havent seen it.
As far as I know the SSLC write up is the only agar lc write up around so it's really not surprising.
In regards to the question, no I doubt 2 days for that kind of growth

Nate, I used agar lc back in 2002, surely we're not the only ones to have dumped some agar in lc? maybe you're right and this is more of an age gap but it's strange to me that he claims this without knowing some fundamental (well fundamental to me) methods.
It's left me a tad bit annoyed but that's the reality of Instagram I guess. This same guy sells beautiful agar plates of totally untested cultures and labels them as research level agar art.

I looked around quite a bit here and mycotopia for other mentions of agar in lc and the only thing close was a reference to pf using agar in his syringes so it isnt that common.

I used to use agar lc when I had my oyster farm, amazing for oysters and sorghum. For ages I used to use honey water before lme was an option, still used desert agar for a while in the beginning.

It’s the new age of Myco bullshit that’s taken off massively even in the short time that I’ve been cultivating.
I started in December of 2020 and there was very limited resources (Here obviously being the epicentre). Even these past 6 months have given rise to all sorts of cunts with their multicoloured LC’s and agar and gimmicky shit just to get insta likes and thumbs up (don’t have insta so no idea of internet currency).
Keep it fuckin simple and use shit that works. I’m all for experimentation and stuff but turning an LC green really doesn’t benefit anyone or anything in my eyes.
On another note, I’m Glad Nate is in the house and the subject of SSLC has been brought up. I’m gunna cook some up tomorrow and was thinking about going 0.2% on the agar and same for nutrients so for a test batch of 300ml using 0.6g agar and LME sound about right? Was gunna ask in the SSLC thread but it’s closed.

Too much agar for 300ml in my opinion but it's entirely dependent on your desired viscosity.

I should give the ol SSLC another go, I totally botched it when I tried it by eyeballing the agar. Always room for improvement.

300ml I wouldn't use more than 0.3g.

So 0.1%? Sounds about right. I’ll be cooking that shit up tomorrow then and let you know how it goes. Will be adding a stir bar and stirring at fuck knows what RPM at fuck knows what intervals 👍🏼

That's some pretty fucking fast growth for two days! They all seem to be cubes as well. Maybe it's a super rich broth?

Don't we keep nutes down to encourage growth?
I don't believe that's two days.
