Mycelia not fully surrounded cake but pinning
    #2762744 - 06/04/04 09:36 AM (19 years, 10 months ago)

My mycelia is not yet all the way around the cake. It just has a little more but it has started pinning. Should I let it fruit or keep it in the jar until its done surrounding the cake?

If it's started pinning, you might as well let it finish and hope for the best.

I'd keep it in the jar for now....if you took it out, you's have to carefully cut out any uncolonized sections completely. What temps did you colonize at?

Around 70-73. Its only got a little bit more substrate for the mycelia to cover. Should cover it in less than 3 days. But I just noticed it is starting to pin.

just do the jars invitro that would be the safest bet
were you giving them light during incubation?
if so that could have been what happened

I gave them light about 5 days after the mycelia started growing. So I should just keep them in the jars?

you can probably keep them in the jars. Just next time you do your jars dont expose them to light exept to look at the progress. Only minenute light will make them pin

Oh the way I read the PF tek, I thought you were supposed to expose them to light whenever mycelia started to form. Thats my mistake. Thanks for the clarification.
