you think they will?
i cut down about 5 inches under the soil and lifted them out in blocks.

I can't say for sure, they probably will. I think they are quite a bit more hardy than people say if you start them off right. As long as the taproots weren't cut I don't see why they won't flourish. I've transplanted a 4x4' section before to an area with poor soil (rocky w/clay) and they still grew. I just saturated the ground after tilling it up a bit and transplanted.

Heh, didn't see that pic you posted before now. Mine were a bit bigger than that (so likely bigger roots), so I say you have a good chance

See, mine, when that young, have very serrated leaf margins.. How old are those?
I showed a few others who are familiar and they agree that it looks like something else.

This is a poppy seedling from www.poppies.org I think you are right edit: Isn?t it too late for them to be sprouting/growing outdoor?

Well.. Its a tough call when trying to decide if its too late.. I thought it was too late a month ago and I have several plants that are 4''-5'' tall already. Very quick growing when fed regularly.
Mitch,, Post that other pic of valerian you had in the hunting forum too. I wanna get a closer look at it.

Your 2:0 now buddy. ... I think that valerian has more dissected leaves and is topped off with an small umbel of flowers, not too unlike other members of the carrot family.
Why don't you post a pic of you and the toad to draw the attention off the mis IDed plants

i'm pretty sure those are poppies. i had some persians that looked just like that in their juvinile age. what strain are they? they look pretty good right now but it's not a good idea to try and transplant somni's. as long as the don't get waterlogged they should be cool. poppies get pretty big so it would be a good idea to thin em out a bit (not now but in about a week or 2).
good luck good day

yeah look like some little poppies i have going now, i have one pot full of seedlings about 30 - 50, and another pot of larger transplants, maybe three or four. But the pots i have them in now are way to small so they will probably need another transplant some day soon.

I totally dont think they are at all. but I suppose if everyone else is so confident they are, maybe its just a variety i'm not use to see at such a young age.

The sprouts/rosettes look just like poppies, but the lettuce/cabbage doesn't look like it at all, atleast not Papaver Somniferum, maybe a strange variety of Pap Som or a completely different species.

not insisting, just raising some points we might not have seen, like the seedlings.. usually when people make posts about "my poppies" they're usually opium poppies. So i think we might have been just assuming that.
It could be papaver, but are there other papaver species that don't have serated leaf margins?

Of the three species planted by the I&I. I have scene differences between varieties and seedlings. Persian whites long narrow seedling leaves with deep serrated margins. McConels blue mix rounder less serrated at first. The other noname variety started out with rouund leaves much like yours, they developed into the more common look of pappaver someniferum.

Very interesting.. Once again, I'm probably wrong because i'm not use to seeing any seedlings that look like that.. What variety is that one?

since i collected the adults (with permission) from a farmers feild a year ago, i dont know the variety , but they are the same as the adult shots i posted. also, the ones i collected from a neighbors yard had golf-ball sized pods if that helps.
