Another day, another dick… pic. So I tried a few things for comparison with this mm culture.. one was cased:

One was regular mixed with a 1” comp TL:

And one I laymixed (first qt was mixed @ 1:3 and the 2nd qt was basically a grain layer but I added a couple handfuls of cv just so there was some between the grains) and then a 1” comp layer on top of that:

There seems to be a clear winner so far with looks and speed but I wouldn’t count the laymixed tub out yet with weight… I think they’re gonna be chunkers.. I won’t LM again because it’s too slow in comparison but it was an itch I had to scratch lol

Faht those are definitely keepers. You gonna clone that second tub that’s all cluster??
Finally seeing some spores on the semperviva, which means almost time to try them out.

The apeu I just ran may have been the densest shrooms I’ve grown. Only put a handful in the dehydrator and they were 20.5g dry, wouldn’t be surprised if the first flush was 60+ out of a shoebox.

Nice! I would let them go until they actually start dropping the spores as they have been a bit stubborn ime. Also, some people on mycotopia were suggesting higher potency the longer they go. Regardless, please post a report!

An ATL7 dish that is exhibiting some of the 'ring' phenomena we talked about a bit earlier in the thread.
I can't say with certainty that the rings correspond to the exact number of days it's been exposed to day/night cycles, but I'd wager it's close.
The satellite colonies surrounding the larger one showed up after that larger central one, which probably explains why they have less rings?
Hindsight, I think it was you who originally described it in an older thread, and I was probably referencing that.

Yeah if you subtract ~3 days for the transfers jump onto the plate, the rings are always the same number of day/night cycles. Pretty cool! Would be interesting to take the same culture and put it on two plates - one with 24x7 lighting and one with 12/12 (all else being equal). I’m sure someone has done it before but I’ve never seen it.

Yes it is! I have nearly a dozen shoeboxes of them going now and they all look very different. Some examples:

I ran a little experiment with 3 BRF pucks. They were all three inoculated from the same sector on a penis envy T1 culture using Josex poke. Once fully colonized, I filled two jars with CV on top of the pucks and compressed it, and broke one of the cakes up and mixed it with CV. The mixed jar colonized faster, but is making blobs, while the other two are making developed fruits. I think this may be a testament to the utility of a P9 style pseudo-casing, or at the very least how vital compression is for fruiting PE.

Right on.
Another theory is that blobs can be caused by breaking up the colony when you spawn the jar which this seems to back up.
Pretty cool.
