Inoculating grain jars with agar without flowhood

Is it feasible with a SAB?

Absolutely!! I'm still surprised by some of the things that can be pulled off in a SAB.  Plant tissue culture?  No problem.

Just be cognizant of your sterile technique and your environment and remove or reduce as many contamination vectors as possible.

Its kind of the whole point of the SAB. Is a car good for driving down the road?

The SAB gets no respect.* Pretty much everyone starts with one. Some move on to a flowhood. Flowhoods can be more versatile but they’re not required.

I have no issues whatsoever with my SAB and no plans for a flowhood. I could easily scale up many times as-is with no concern about SAB related contamination.

* said below a string of replies advocating for the SAB.

If i had more space, i´d use a hood for sure.
It´s total freedom against a SAB, especially handling bags.
But i love my SAB, and never had issues.
As i started out a while ago, my SAB was a plastic bag
Same principle but no fun.
So i already stepped up with a SAB.
By the way many people working mainly on a hood
also have a SAB for some agar cleanup sessions.
