What’s a good gaming PC? * 2
    #27623332 - 01/18/22 09:40 AM (2 years, 10 days ago)

I have a PC with lots of games on it but some newer games like to crash or won’t even work at all. It’s crazy I have a lenovo ideapad 3 I got last summer and older games work fine even some new ones work but I had to get steam to refund me on some. I have postal, postal 2 and 3 but 4 crashes every time. It’s strange even fallout 3 would crash ang GTA 4 gets like frozen then unfrozen every 15 minutes when there’s to manny NPC. I really wanted to play postal 4 I’ve beat every other postal game. Can I upgrade my computer or should I look for another one? Thanks.

IdeaPad is a fine business laptop but isn't going to do much for gaming. I would look into a new computer. If you want to stick with a laptop, Lenovo Legion and HP Omen are good options for gaming. I game on a Lenovo Legion with an RTX 2080i and it handles everything I've thrown at it. I am looking to upgrade to a PC in the near future, but I'll build one rather than buy pre-built.

What about Microsoft flight simulator? I figured if I got a legit gaming laptop it still wouldn’t play that game. I really want a Xbox series X I could get the S but I like disks. It’s just sold out everywhere I used to play PS4 a lot till I sold it for weed and liquor. I was like level 50 something with a moonshine operation a trading business and elite bounty hunting license in Red Dead 2 online. I can’t believe fallout 3 crashes on a 2020 computer though I don’t understand why exactly I have the specs and it’s from like 2007 I think.

I bought a used gaming computer with an rtx 2060 and it handles cyberpunk at ultra. TBH I don't think upgrading is worth it for me until chip prices drop, especially since there have been a bunch of games that have come out I haven't had the chance to play until recently. I can afford it, but it feels like tossing money in the trash when I already have amazing graphics.

CaptainTrips420, for the games you want to play, basically anything with a graphics card will do. I have a lenovo y510p from 2015 that can handle things like fallout 3, the witcher and most likely postal 4 from what I can see. If you'd like to play newer titles something like a 2060 is more or less what you want to shoot for, although you can probably get away with less.

Ya I got it while I had my PS4 and had little interest in any games besides the postal series that is PC only. I like the adult game features on steam though I got 3 AO rated games but honestly I think they shouldn’t be so uptight about stuff. I mean one of the AO games is bad called Hatred and one called Lust For Darkness but besides the sex it’s really not at all violence or anything. Then the stupidest one Quickie: A Love Hotel Story is literally the most E rated game except for the sex. But it’s definitely got graphic sex but seriously it’s not close to as bad as M stuff like even GTA like you literally can’t fight steal or kill but it’s treated worse. Idk the rating systems make no sense to me.

Gaming computers around 1200 dollars are more than enough to successfully run most of the games you would want to play.

Ya once I get a job but is it running 120hz at 4K? I could buy an Xbox series x and a 4K tv probably not 120hz more like 60hz but that new Xbox can do 120 pictures a second in real 4K. I don’t know if gaming computers are running the same specs but check this out

To be honest, I think consoles are more bang for the buck, I got one because there are a lot of games meant only for PC. Mine can run some games 120FPS, but most are around 60. I haven't tried measuring cyberpunk (which is the only real high end game I've been playing) but it feels around 60, not sluggish at all. My computer used was like 1700 usd, but computer components are expensive as fuck in Mexico.

If you're serious about PC gaming, then u have to upgrade to a Desktop. There are some gaming laptops but a desktop is the best choice overall (except for portability of course).

Lots of gaming Desktop brands out there, Alienware is the most well known choice. Several sites have prebuilts u can buy, eBay has prebuilts as well. What sort of budget do you have?

I’m thinking about selling my PC and upgrading to a 17.3 inch Lenovo Legion with 32GB RAM and 1 terabyte of storage but I had questions. On the new Xbox and PS5 the external hard drives will not work with modern games but can a lab top use regular external hard drives to run games? I figured it will play all the games for another 2+ years but I’ll probably have to switch it again but I like PC gaming. I want to play multiplayer but my computer lags super hard. I miss red dead online  :singletear:
Also I don’t want a desktop I really like the portability of a lab top but this has ryzen 5600x so I think it will play anything for a few years. If I was going to get something non portable I would go console.
Also there a thing called NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 it comes with but there’s better stuff out there it’s just I don’t know if it would be needed.
Actually I been looking at steam and spec websites and I will pay the extra $500 for a 2022 model with GeForce RTX 3060 6GB cause it will run way smoother I think idk I need a job then I’ll get a legit gaming laptop.

4 would be the only reason to play computer games/get a gaming rig now, I've thoroughly enjoyed 2 back then. Just one problem is, I've got a 42" 4k screen on my desk (replaced a triple screen setup), so probably some beefy graphics cards needed. I'm thinking anyway about a Thunderbolt 4 laptop, so eGPU. Now the question is, are four PCIe 3.0 lanes (Thunderbolt 3/4) enough for 4k @ 60 Hz (bought that display for coding/trading, not games, so 60 Hz). Last time I've been into gaming was way before 2010, so I don't have a clue, except setting up that fglrx/HD5xxx mess on Linux for mining purposes back in 2011-2013...

I found a professionally refurbished HP OMEN OBELISK 875 PC with a i9-9900K, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD with a 2T hard drive and a 11GB RTX 2080Ti graphics card. It’s definitely got some power it’s the best I could get only like $1,760 but I would probably get a small 4K TV capable of 120hz to use as a monitor. Hopefully I’ll get the money I miss Red Dead Online. You guys think that’s better than the PS5 though?
I could also get an Alienware brand new from dell for over $3,300 that has RTX 3080. I don’t know though I think I will get something cheap and upgrade later the graphics card is my main focus because it’s the most expensive part. I think I could replace the CPU it looks less complicated than graphics chips.

I don't know why anyone would not just build a PC
https://pcpartpicker.com/

It is literally tougher to put together a modern children's lego set than to put together a PC.

A computer desk is certainly tougher to put together from the instructions in the box.
