Fingers crossed! 1:4 millet spawn (consolidated 3 weeks) to coir, 2cm coir frosting on spawning. Spawned 29 December.

That growth in the side shot all looks really good, now you just gotta pray away the overlay.

How do they compare to APE’s? Is it different with it not being a cube? Never done Pans or anything exotic like that

For me the trip was much different than cubes. Specifically visually. Instead of patterns and breathing walls that I get with most shrooms natal makes everything just look different, like some kind of weird filter.

My friends ended up taking some BVI I grew instead of the Nats (they didn't want to eat fresh shrooms) so I'll have to do them myself here soon. Will definitely post a report.

For me everything becomes shaky, but a starry night is ten times better on nats than cubes

You guys got me excited! Im gona try some nats tomorrow finally got some time. Thinking a 4 gram tea will be nice since normally I like doing 4 grams of APE. That sound right? Ive heard people recommend 2 grams of nat but I usually like a higher dose.

Sounds like a good approach. If ya like it strong then I say go for it!
Still working on getting to my first tubs. Nocced some bags with plates that had latched to the lids. Very clean and uniform underneath the insane overlay.

shoeboxes on their third flush. Second flush was kinda shit because I overhydrated the thick coir casing layer. Fruits all looked like little mexican guys with sombreros. Now this 3rd flush is looking better.

This Natal on agar:

Same Natal 10 days after spawning it:

Same Natal 19 days after spawning it:

I think I'll scrape off that top layer with a fork - unless advised otherwise here - because I can't see any pins so far.
Another Natal on agar:

And this is what it looks like 10 days after spawning:

I have more hope with this one

I would scrape that overlay and try it as a tea just to see if it has any different effects compared to the fruits (due to differences in alkaloid profiles that were being discussed in another thread, such as higher content of MAOIs).

Would be interesting to hear, been wanting to try Subtrop tea but these kick up so much overlay it would make sense to give it a use, especially those cultures that just want to "foam" up like that

Well, lack of an established tek means you can get creative and won't be called a fool if your approach fails

You can try scraping it if you want - I would be very interested to see what happens if you do. But I didn't scrape my totes that had that kind of overlay and they pinned and produced fruit anyway. The pins just came up through the overlay:

Mycoweek tried this the other day, scraping seemed to just delay the inevitable lol

Crazy mycelium, I got holes too close to surface, many area were dead and dried out, so I decided to take a fork and scrape off those dense mycelium.

Recovered nicely after scraping

Pinning, and covered with mycelium again.

About time to harvest, these mofos looks like Enoki.

1.5 inches of fluffy mycelium that feels like cotton candy. pretty easy to harvest, where not too much substrate are attached to mushrooms. Simply pull and snip with a scissor.

Haha well that's a good test then - now we know not to waste the time right?
Harvested this second tote of Nats today. Really looked and acted just like the first tote, though fruits not quite as big, and more staggered. These are all MS grows so no surprise there. But my six other tub cultures haven't even started pinning yet and we are at 16 days now. I'll just be patient. I've cloned and printed the two tubs that fruited.
