Most of the grow shops in Oregon have a magic mushroom isle. Some are selling spore syringes, and sterilized bags and substrate. Few companies have been selling live cultures. Some have packaged candies, extracts, ect like a full on rec market. Were not quite there, but if anyones getting in trouble its those people advertising in all the weed mags and shops.
But to the original question, times are fucking changing fast.

Actually, one of the vendors I know of said they had their LC analysed and it was found to not in fact contain any of the active illegal compounds. From my understanding, it takes certain nutrients to allow for the production of the active compounds so it may not be that difficult to produce LC that doesn't have any.

What? Suppressing psilocybin production in living Cubensis mycelium, temporarily? Is more info available?
If this is the case it implies methods of controlling those nutrients to manage levels of active compounds at all stages of growth. The holy grail.

No, it's not a matter of suppression and I may have stated that confusingly. I think what they were implying is that LC just doesn't contain psilocin or psilocybin to begin with and therefore isn't illegal in and of itself. Whether this is entirely true or has more to do with the method of testing by the labs they used, I don't know. Could be the amounts present were so small they just don't show up on tests.
Either way the whole legality of active cultures thing is a very grey area right now and we're only going to find out as time goes on whether the law is going to decide to do anything about it. The vendors selling them certainly do appear to be taking a risk.

I've already done time for fungus so i know that prison time for it is totally real. I'll let those vendors navagate those murky waters. I'm good on finding out where that line is. Cause its usually not fun discovering where that line is drawn.

it doesnt have to have the drug, it's a living culture of something that will produce the drug so it could be considered intent to manufacture, who knows what.

Lotkid, that sucks man!!! Sorry for your misfortune. Nobody should have their freedom taken away for having/growing plants/fungus.
Are there maybe some things in retrospect you would have done differently?? Or maybe things you do differently now...

And it was back before my state redid the minimum mandatory sentencing so my time was mandatory. Meaning no good time. I did all 1,095 days.

Damn man. That really sucks. You were clearly a major threat to society… SMH.
Very good advice. It is weird, I don’t even really think of it as illegal, but it is. Illegal as fuck. So long as my wife doesn’t jump ship and roll over, I should be good on that front. Thanks for sharing, LotKid. It is important to keep it in perspective I suppose.

Time for a friendly reminder: don’t tell ANYONE about your hobby. Never be the mushroom guy. Be the guy who knows a guy and needs a few days to set you up.
Despite the warm and fuzzy feelings it’s still Schedule 1. Argue the merits of how things ought to be until you are blue in the face. Yet never forget two generations of law enforcement have grown up with, and based their careers on, a drugs are evil mindset.
