PC vs Pot Steamer?

Hello! First time grower here.
I am currently using mason jar lids and a pot with water to try to sterilize my spawn jars.
I was wondering how much it would be worth it to get a PC compared to my original setup.
Getting the money to buy a PC will be very time consuming, and I need to know if it will be worth it to buy a PC or get more grains to keep my mycelium alive.
P.S. The text editor needs to be fixed!!! it doesent take a UI designer to know that black text is difficult to read on a dark background.!

You can change the background colors of the whole forum - mine is tan so the colors actually show up. If I didn't figure out how to do that I would have abandoned the site long ago lol that blue background with whit text was killing my eyes! I don't know how I found where to do it, but use the search function and you'll find it.
As for a PC - if you want to do anything beyond BRF cakes it is a must have. Yes, they're expensive but it's the only way to run grains without an atmospheric pressure steamer (which costs even more than a PC and are huge). Aside from a SAB it is the most fundamental piece of equipment needed in this hobby

I would argue using a pot to steam sterilize is far more time consuming. Get a PC, youll thank me later

Doesn’t it take 24 hours and AP to sterilize grain? vs only two hours to pc. Get a PC, figure you could grow 4oz per run once you are proficient. What’s 4oz cost if you were going to buy it? Probably more than the cost of a presto.

A word for the Instant Pot. If these are available where you live check Craigslist, NextDoor, etc. for used and free. They work perfectly for mycology, are less conspicuous than a canner, and better for cooking.
How are you planning to dry your harvests? A dehydrator is important too.

I have an InstaPot Duo, but I've brought a Presto. InstaPot can achieve a max 12PSI and you cannot fit too many jars. There is a newer InstaPot Max that can achieve 15PSI, but at that price you better buy a Presto.
