Man that’s what I thought too but the biggest one has already dropped spores in that picture. They’re just all stuck up under the cap on the fat stem
I did go out of town for three days and moved them to a room that was about 50F to slow it down a little so idk if that did anything.

Not sure if they're on shroomery but Angela and Bjorn (creators of Omni, Shakti, Gandalf and a handful of others) got a big natelensis blob they posted on FB. It had gills but IDK if if had spores or if they're trying to stabilize it.
Given their proclivity for weirdos I imagine they'll have something at the very least mutated going around soon.

After just shy of 2 months, inoculated 11/19, I've got germination of P-Nat.
1 of 9 plates germinated - I had given up but found this today.

damn, those are nice. Did you clone a fat nat? or just grew from spores collected from a fat nat?

Neither really.
This is what it looked like in august.

But I’ve transferred and grown out the culture on a new plate quite a few times now so it looks like I either got rid of the normal looking genetics or just didn’t have any on the wedge I dropped for this new grow.

so it's the same plate from your august grow, just different sector of genetics?

Nat likes bottles but only pins around the rims with the thick overlay covering the middle.
Bottles are 1qt filled about 80% it's approx 1/3 grain to coir, cased with a thick compacted verm layer roughly 1/2 thick. It ate the verm. The little guys are just brf cakes cased with coir all fruited in a mini mono.
Next go will be 80% ground corncob/ 20% grain like I've been growing gourmets in.
Neat stuff

That tie dye is awesome! My complements to your gf's artistry and vision!
Hey Folks - those of you who have a fair number of Natalensis grows under your belt... I have an observation that I'd like you to comment on. Some may remember that I have cloned some of the short fat pheno's. What I'v noticed is that the mycelium from these clones behaves very differently from most of my Natalensis cultures. Specifically it is tomentose rather than strikingly rhizomorphic and it is also notably slower than most Natalensis cultures I've grown.
Has anyone who has worked with a fat / choady form of Natalensis noticed the same characteristics?
Pheno I'm talking about:

I got some right now
Don’t mind the ufos.

But yes when I started this culture I only took the most tomentose growth each time. It still colonizes coir quickly but definitely a little slower on grain. It seems to pin quicker also.
The crazy overlay cultures I used to have would’ve climbed to the top of the shoebox by now too.

I am very excited about growing these!!! Thank you FridgeDoor for turning me onto this thread and variety!! I love how extremely aggressive this mycelium behaves, and I love how a tub of these things looks when fruits get long and twisty.
I've got a natalensis germ plate which I believe is ready to punch out a couple transfers, I am looking forward to sharing some shoebox photos here...
