To be honest, i think i'm too chaotic and stupid to do proper work in a sab. FFUs are more forgiving in that regard.

My SAB.
75 gal aquarium on it's side. Plexi glass front w/ 120mm arm holes.
 Upgrading to magnetic covers soon.
Old aquariums with minor damage can sometimes be found cheap/free.

I'm with you! But I made 87 of those lids when I was a beginner, thinking I'd be making crap tons of pf cakes. I did one round of pf then made the switch to agar. So now I have enough unnecessarily over engineered lids start an Etsy shop. đŸ˜‚

Seriously though, your setup looks sick!!!
Lol, it's actually impossible to get straight cake jars in my Levantine hell hole (and i wasn't aware of pp containers back then). Getting verm was also problematic, so i went straight to coco bulk.
I did ports coz i thought i'll be open air knocking jars (going commando) via LC Got meself a print from a reputable lab, did 5 no-pour plates, transferred to LC (4% honey water i think it was), transferred to grain and... The first time it worked somewhat ok actually (dunno, like 5-10% fail, but only because i'm a dumbass, my old apartment was dirty and disgusting and my cat is an asshole), and you know, for a noob me that was a huge success
Then, the newly confident me decided to do prints. And that was the point in the story when i became a trich farmer Tried doing proper agar work in my mini sab, but it's so fiddly and i couldn't see shit through the plastic, so i was just about ready to give up on this hobby... Getting that FFU was a huge game changer for me. I still do stupid shit like hovering my arms over open plates and setting the cat of fire with the propane burner, but my jar contam rate went to practically 0 (like, i don't remember when was the last time i got a jar go bad)

Thanks Moshe! 95% same origin story! đŸ˜‚ My first SAB was tiny and hard to use. This SAB is serving well but I look forward to adding a hood.

Hi. I was looking at using airfilters as an alternative to LFH. There is a guy from new Zealand who has a YouTube video up of doing the same thing. I dont know if I can post the link here ?
Anyway. I bought one second hand , it's a 400 pound unit. So isn't cheap. I didn't pay anywhere near that for it. Besides I would use it even if using it for mycology is a no no.
I attach some photos.
Has a decent surface area coverage in comparison with the YouTube video one.
Anyway let me know if you have tried this. Or what your thoughts are.
Thanks

Not worth the investment, just use a SAB.

What about this ? It converts a box fan into laminar air flow. If you added a hepa filter would it be doable?

Why are you guy's so hell bent on this shit? Why not use a SAB? And no, this is not suitable for microbiology, the application is completely different.
I'm not going to explain this any further, if you folks cannot put 2 and 2 together on your own then that's just the way it is.

fancy contraptions are comfy and can always be the scapegoat the ego needs to explain failure.
proper tools and proper equipment means its really on the cultivator to put up or shut up.
and we all know how that goes.
