These have been only PC'd once so we'll have to see how it goes in the future as far as the white film is concerned.

If the film won't come off soak in straight vinegar
You can also elevate your trivet. Buy aluminum or stainless bolts, nuts, and washers from the hardware store. Should cost less than $5

Thanks I will try the vinegar soak. I do have the trivet spaced up a good bit - I used some 3" aluminum pipe that I cut into 2.5" long sections and I put 5 of those down under the trivet to space it up 2.5". Works great but was more expensive than what you suggested!

Also if they crush a bit in the PC you can save them and use them to germinate swabs or syringed with a little pf Tek substrate. It's slow but good for cleaning a dirty sample. I have a suspicion that it will work well for something like ovoids which don't seem to like growing out on grain or agar.

I really doubt it's happening in the PC, but wrapping in foil or using a mason jar or a giant weird nutcracker thing would stop it if it were.
Do you put the lid tight on the Mason jar? Cuz I'd think that would boil the hell out of the agar since the pressure couldn't equalize. Otherwise there is pretty much no getting around dirty air getting into those plates. The pot must take in air to equalize pressure, as must the plates.

Yeah, use a mason jar lid with a synthetic filter. Nutcracker works great for me. It's Christmas soon, you guys will be able to buy a nutcracker somewhere :P

Here is a pp6 flask, you can actually see my arm through it, and my arm is below two plastic layers of the flask (due to the curvature of the flask).

So it can actually be made for laboratory purposes, but it needs to be pp6, anyone who want to make money, will just need to figure out how to make HG wider and made of pp6.
Brilliant! Hopefully we see this become a reality...

Found them in the US. DOLLAR GENERAL Christmas section, $3 each.
I think just getting the tall pasta container and foiling the top would be better.
I foil wrap all mine and have zero issues maybe two in a stack need to rest a few days due to condensation. If I'm using my instant pot I usually get half the stack usable, the rest within a week.

Hello everyone, first time posting long time lurking. You've all helped me a lot without knowing it, so I thought I'd finally post and give a little something back to everyone who's helped me so much. A big thank you to you all.
As you're all well aware, the containers have skyrocketed in price on Amazon ($17 for 8 containers last I saw) and the alternate sources in the original post are currently out of stock. So, like you, I've been scouring the internet looking for another source for Holy Grails.
After nearly resigning myself to paying high prices just to try these magical containers, I finally stumbled across this website. They appear to have both the 3 oz "standard" Holy Grail containers and 6.5oz "jumbo" Holy Grail containers (which are 4" wide and 1.75 inches tall- I know some of you were looking for larger Holy Grails to use). As of yesterday, the "standard" HG containers were 25% off, cost only 60 cents (USD) a pop, and can be purchased in 1, 12, or 50 count packs with free shipping too (over $25 of course... and watch out for the surprise $6 handling fee, always annoying...). I bought 62 HG containers for about $37 total. The deal was so good I figured I'd eat the cost (or switch hobbies and go into the cosmetics business...) if they didn't work out.
EDIT: It appears the sale is over, but they still only cost about 75 cents each in a 50-pack.
Just wanted to share the links for anyone who's been having a hard time finding these (affordably!) and wants to give them a try. Once my order arrives I'll post my own photos of their clarity.
EDIT: My order arrived, and they even gave me two extra containers in the 50-pack. What a deal! Here are a couple photos showing their clarity. They look pretty good to me, we'll see once I get something growing. Also, I checked all the lids and they appear to screw on properly (I think this was a concern with another source). Both the lids and the base have the PP5 symbol, so they should be good to go in your pressure cooker.

I'm excited to have finally found a better source for these. Also, I apologize if you already knew about this source, I did my best to read through the 40+ pages before posting. Hope this helps.
EDIT: In case anyone's wondering, I can fit 25 of these in my 6-quart Instant Pot for sterilization.
EDIT 1/25/22: After testing these out I’ve decided HG cups (at least the ones I bought) aren’t going to work for me.
Leaving them loosely unscrewed for a couple weeks (on an open shelf at temps averaging 60-65F with about 40% ambient humidity) did not dry them out much at all. So, for me, with my specific HG cups linked above, the shelf drying method of removing condensation did not work. The cold winter temperatures in my house probably didn’t help, but even at their clearest without any condensation I find these too foggy to work with. I can see mycelium okay but I can’t easily see contamination, which is a dealbreaker for me.
Switching back to my clunkier mini mason jars and ziploc twist n loc 4oz minis (which also require no modifications, for those interested). Ironically their taller stature is actually helpful when dealing with condensation as I can just look through the side of the cup at the culture, which I can’t do with my HG cups. Bummer, I did really like the slim profile of the HGs and that I could fit so many more in my pressure cooker.

The wider version also comes with more height, unfortunately. The original HG is 1 inch in height and the wider version is 1.75 inch height. It would be better if it had the same height and not as bulky.

Hey, Mr. Alien & all of the Holy Grailers.
Thanks for the Tek. Love it.
This fresh batch of plates just went in the PC.

I bundle each plate stack with a strip of parchment paper to maintain alignment & to allow jars to remain upright.
