April 12th. At what point do we give up on pear tree forecasts entirely?

Also know the date that his tree gives is for his area. The rest of us determine our season start from his 1st finds.
EXAMPLE: Even though I'm not that far from koods as a crow flys, I'm still about 2 1/2 weeks from his start date.
I've always been that far behind him, sucks too

Nothing here yet. I compared some pictures I took on the same date two years ago and the boxelders and other trees are a little behind what they where in 2020. I figure they will pop off the same time they did the last few years... right around may 1st. I can find a few a week or two before that, but not much.
When they grow the pre-bruised bluish color, are those more potent is it just environmental? You can see a blue one in my avatar pic to the left.

Interesting. You got the Susquehanna phenotype.
Can you be more specific in your location. I have a theory that some of the upper Chesapeake shores could be colonized with this type of ovoid

Upper Eastern Shore
This patch originates from transplanted Suss variety stem butts that naturalized here, they have come up for several years expanding their range each season.
What's interesting is these are not in a floodplain or irrigated at all, there is not a stream within a half mile.
I have searched from Elk Neck across to DE and yet to find a non-introduced patch, but apparently they can thrive on the shore once established.

Hey, I get it that people don't want to give up their secret spots, but I am gonna make a friendly request for a little assistance if possible. In 2 weeks I have to drive a car from Alabama to Massachusetts. Will be going up 81 primarily, not 95. This is rare for me, I am never in this part of the country. But the Ovoid season and the Morel season will likely be in full swing as I pass through. I won't have the time to dick around and search for my own spots. But maybe someone here can help me out? I would be happy to return the favor in some way. Even if it's just an IOU. Or a cut of what I find?? It'll have to be something relatively close to the highway and preferably not a huge hike since I'll have pets with me that I can't let cook in the car. I know this is kind of a longshot, but figured it would not hurt to ask. Ovoids and morels are nearly impossible to find in my area. It would be the highlight of my last 2 years (covid killed everything fun in my life lol) if I could find either or both. Thanks y'all!
