Good morning!  I am glad that I've found this GA thread and have already learned so much from you guys.  This is my first season hunting actives in North GA.  It looks like I may have just missed Ovoid season and need to wait for a good bit of rain before venturing out for Caerulescens.

Is it still possible to find Ovoids this late in the season?  I can't believe this spring season has been so damn dry.  I've scoped out several spots here in North Gwinnett that should be promising, flood plains along creeks with plenty of wood debris etc.  Does the soil type matter for Ovoids? Is there anything else in particular that I should be looking for?  I am so looking forward to Caerulescens season!  Thanks in advance!

man as dry as its been these gymnopilus could give 2 f*cks and still have plenty more to go around!:dogpile: theyve been flushing like 2x a week. so evly, did you happen to aquaint the gyms you found? (or are you not allowed, because the ovoids will get jealous?:fuie:) i would definitely say ovoids like it a lil sandy but i think its mainly the flavour of the tree remnants that matter

that stain on the wood is actually blue as hell and im wondering if its just a coincidence that these stains only occur on pieces connected to mycelium

Crazy dry weather we've had and now the heat has finally come. Forecast finally showing some rain, fingers crossed it actually hits us this time.

Just wanted to chime in to say that in irrigated areas, yall can maybe check for tamps. I've been having them come up in my flower boxes the past weeks where I water regularly. (I mixed the soil with spent tamp grains back in the summer/fall). This is ITP

I think that might just be coincidence actually. Looks more like green elf cup to me, it turns the wood straight green to blue. I guess spalted wood fetches a pretty penny. Actually now that I think of it, the gyms in my Sig were growing from that blue-green wood. Maybe gyms have a symbiotic relationship with the green elf cup? Maybe the wood is easier for the gyms to break down after the elf cup has had it's way?

thx for the insight mr.giggles! on another note, barely spotted some pans (i would say poppin except the were more keeping there heads down) i didnt see them till i was right on top of them they were hiding deep in the grass. scattered around different lots in a warehouse district in marietta.

pay no attention to that conocybe thats cap is pointed downwards

and the 2 bigger white ones here could be coprinus but they didnt liquify so im thinknin there not

total haul prbly not enough for a dose but maybe a micro one

blueing stem base

damn evly! i bet that thing is gonna produce year round for you! high five :borat:

Awesome find! In first pic you've got a sneaky concybe in the mix. Others are mix of foenesecii and what i believe to be panaeolopsis. The ones with the oblong cabs are the ones i suspect to be panaeolopsis. You should make seperate id request to get some other peeps opinions. I hope to find some my self. Was this in someones lawn?

That’s a really sweet find there 6.  Definitely have a mix there, but the active one does look like panaeolopsis sp. like Evly mentioned.  According to the dose calc. they seem like they could give one a good ride.

Nice panaeolopsis find too! You should take some prints/swabs! Certain individuals may be interested in experiencing them under their microscope

Nice finds evly!

How long after this rain should I start hunting?  Should I stick to my scouted Ovoid habitats, or is it too late in the season for those?  If too late for ovoids, is it still too early to find caerulescens in landscaped habitats?

I've hiked about 12 miles in the past two days and found countless pluteus, amanitas, and gymnopus, but nothing active!
