Hell yes! I've been checking to see if the Georgia thread has moved to the front page for weeks now. I haven't seen anything good in quite some time. Crossing my fingers that I'll see some soon too.

I know it's about time to start the hunt andt his is going to be my first full year of foraging. I started late last year around Sept, so I came on the tail end of the season.

Anyway, how does one find a buddy or someone to help me learn where to look and how to observe the habitats around my home in Gwinnett? I've read so much and I've gone out to look, but recently it's been dry so I'm a tad bit disheartened.

What’s up y’all? Long time no see. Been keeping tabs on the threads and hunting a bit but haven’t had much brag-worthy material to share.

Anyhoo, looking forward to a big season and year. Thought I’d jump back in and share some finds.

I encountered ovoids in December, January and February which rounds out the full calendar - I’ve now found psilocybes in Georgia every month of the year. Pretty cool place we live, huh?

Not reopening the 2021 thread and might be breaking the rules, but here is a solo late December find:

In early January, I found a decent little flush on a frosty morning. These guys were frozen and bruised spectacularly when they thawed:

One solo ovoid on 2/28 to check my last month of the list. Not pretty, but am just glad to have scratched February off.

And yesterday, found one lonely little ovoid. Hopefully there are more poppin’ as a type.

It could be my lack of hunting skills, but I’ve been finding a lot of solo ovoids. Hoping for the big flushes some of you have been hauling.

Metro Atlanta area and northern suburbs.

I’ve got ovoids from December to June and caerulescens from July to November.

A few more from yesterday:

Nice finds. :mushroom2: Hunting for ovoids is definitely more challenging than caerulescens.  I’ve been in prime habitat ( as far as I can tell) and only been finding galerina, jelly mushrooms, and turkey tails.  Hiked around 7 miles today at 4 different locations around ATL.  The last few times out I’ve done 10 miles.  Crazy how much legwork it takes.

At least they were having fun

It’s still early. Not every spot will be fruiting. That looks like good area keep checking places like that. Esp with mulched trails.

Beautiful finds Evly :sporedrop::mushroom2:

Do you think these spots are too close to the water?  I did see a good bit of mulch near by the water, but no mushies at all in the mulch.
