WBS questions
    #2759611 - 06/03/04 05:11 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

What are the common problems associated with colonizing WBS?

Can you tell whether or not WBS is "too dry" by looking at a post-PC jar?

Can you rehydrate a jar, if it is too dry,by injecting distilled water or sterilized water?

Is the soak, drip dry, pc method the standard for attaining the best water ratios?

Thanks

>"What are the common problems associated with colonizing WBS?"

That would be the same as any substrate.

>"Can you tell whether or not WBS is "too dry" by looking at a post-PC jar?"

I can, but, simmering eliminates that problem.

>"Can you rehydrate a jar, if it is too dry,by injecting distilled water or sterilized water?"

I have done this, once, and it worked.

>"Is the soak, drip dry, pc method the standard for attaining the best water ratios?"

In my opinion yes,if you simmer also.I know people who put the water in with the wbs and pc it then, but, you have to realise that you can't always get the right water content this way. Why?Because when one simmers the grain,it can only soak up so much water, and every grain kernel gets saturated this way(simmering way),if you load the jars then add water, you would have to know how much each kernel can hold and add that before you pc.You would have to know how many kernels to add and how much water to add to make it just right. It's MY OPINION,and that's all,but I wish ya luck!
