Good luck munch hope it worked out for ya
Wasn’t sure what size bags you were using, and went to Myers to see about a dozen different products.
In the end based on the above conversations I went with a 3 mil bag with the .2 filter and it said good for 2-3 pounds.
If those are too small the next size up is ‘for 5-7 pounds’, but I’m just starting with bags so I’ll use those 50 to practice regardless.
What do you guys normally go with?

I've been using the 3T bags with 4lbs of oats for my spawn. I just snagged a 50 pack of the 10T bags to try out for replacing my master jars with. I'm hoping I can fit significantly more of them in my 75x and at the same time never have to deal with sweeping up broken glass from dropped jars again.

Thx guys,
Sandman, do you use the 3t with a 23 qt presto?
The ones I got are 4t, just curious what Nate uses to get 6 in there evenly with 4 myco quarts each.

I use 3t. 4t bags are only like a qt of grain.

Nope - To be honest, I had too many issues with my presealed 3T bags melting/popping in my presto 16 so I stopped worrying about it since I have a 75x that never has had any issues. Pretty sure my problems were with the PC cooling too fast as well as the thin wall material getting really hot near the bottom.

Always be bagging
Pretty sure that one bag didn’t pull a vacuum but it’s been stored securely for over a week and no signs of nastys there. The other two bags definitely sealed good, I used 5kg of millet between the three bags. Could have got another bag in the pc but I didn’t have enough millet soaked. Next time I’ll do enough for 4.
My plan with these bags is one for a mono and one to split between the next batch of bags I do. Still got one bag of grain here to get inoculated with something. I’ll keep you updated with progress. Great tek

I noticed that you still use jars for G2G.
Why not use bags also for bag to bag inoculation?

Bag to bag works but I've just developed a method and jars are part of that method and it's what works well for me.
I typically do wedge to jar, jar to 10 jars, 10 jars to 20-40 bags. Depends on how many I need.

....is that method held close to your chest?
I've been trying to wrap my head around a production cycle. A bit of a cart before the horse scenario here but I want to give my hand a go at running a small gourmet operation. No market research and no stress on getting it dialed in overnight, my family and co-workers will take whatever I grow so they don't go to waste. I'd like to get a cycle down though for a weekly oyster harvest. I can understand it from the perspective of just always having spawn (Inoculate X amount of blocks every week) Where I am having trouble is how to manage the cultures on plates and the management of how often do I need to make masters, then G2G either to bags or more jars at my small scale.

For gourmet I still use jars. Ill do wedge to jar, jar to 10 jars, 10 jars to 40 blocks.
For oysters I dont use blocks anymore. For oysters I do wedge to jar, jar to 10 jars, 10 jars to 40 grain bags which go to 20 straw logs.
I would say it's a good idea at first to do the same thing each week until you figure out how long colonization times are, fruiting times, etc to nail down a real workflow pattern. Better to have too much stuff happening at once than not enough.

Appreciate it Nate, thanks for the feedback.
I can only fit 6 blocks per shelf on my 4 tier rack. Nocced up kings, golden oyster and black pop. Last night A2G - 2 quarts each. Ill make 2 bags from each jar, and then 2 blocks per bag (gonna buff with extra spawn, and just lipa tek the pellets)
Be back in a week or so when I can stay on topic prepping these bags
Hope all is better then well up in the mountains man

Back on topic...
Wish me luck, I have a feeling I'm going to pop a few. I should have made the bags a little lighter on grain. Had to really smoosh them in there
Thanks for the write up Nate

Thanks a lot man, my FFU will be here ON Wednesday, so I'm going to do some jars to bags(G2G), I'm also using GLC for some other and I will make an attempt with slurry with a couple of bags.
Will come back and share results.
