Tor and 50 Post Requirement

Is it true that once an account reaches 50 posts, you can use Tor? Would I be at risk of being banned if I made an account on public wifi, say at McDonald's, racked up 50 (non-spam) posts over the course of a few days/weeks or so, then began accessing my account via Tor?

Surely you know exactly what I mean.. They prevent account registration from Tor addresses, and I believe they don't let you access accounts using Tor until some minimum post count is met.

Didn't know they did at all. No .onion so jus accessing the .org via tor? If there is some post count accessing thing it's very mooted bc I haven't heard anything of the sort prior to your poast

That'd be great if it was just initial registration. Been meaning to test that out but with COVID I haven't bothered trying to use public wifi. I'll give that a shot though next time I'm in town.

It works! I made a throwaway email and account on my home network, registered, confirmed email, signed out then signed back in via Tor no problem. Should've thought to just try that yesterday but was under the impression 50 post requirement must be met first.
Awesome

no, I don't believe that to be the case and find VPNs quite useless actually for my needs here.

You are totally wrong. VPNs are not anonymous by their nature. Even if you set up your own VPN on a dedicated server, your hosting provider always knows who you are and where you go even though your traffic is encrypted. Tor exit node never knows who you are even if it knows where you go. Tor circuits are dynamic, they changes every several minutes. With Tor you always have different IPs in different places at the same time. With VPN you have the same IP everywhere which makes it easy to link your activity in different places with the same person(you). Never believe that VPNs are anonymous and safe to use, this is lie and bullshit. They will reveal all your data to the police with the first inquiry. On the other hand, Tor exit nodes can reveal nothing about who you are. Yes, Tor is not magic, and people can still be deanonymized when using Tor, but this is almost always due to their own mistakes and misunderstanding of how it works.

If you want to use Tor on some forum, you should never log in with your real IP. If you have done it even once, your idea to be anonymous is useless. I had problems with registering here via Tor. I contacted support, and some good guy from support created this account for me without any problems. In my country it is not safe to visit such places as this forum without using Tor.

I tried to have the same thing done with my accoutnt, messaged support and everything but was denied. And agreed about both the VPN comment and not logging in with my real IP.

What are you afraid of on shroomery, it's not like it's the same thing as silk road or other drug selling sites. I seriously doubt Law enforcement is stalking shroomery members through ip addresses unless maybe you are selling weight, but one of the shroomery staff will get rid of you before that happens. We don't tolerate open drug sales or anything that will jeopardize shroomery as a whole.

why not be more robust against future uncertainties rather than less? all it takes is a subpeona and seizure of servers for users to be at risk

I was very surprised to learn how few people (especially those high up in the chain) that don't use VPN's or TOR on the Shroomery.

Is there any good reason to?
HTTPS encryption is very strong, and there's a good argument that using VPN's or TOR would make you stand out more rather than less.
