Always be hunting. I find myself looking down a lot... If you just constantly look and know what to look for you'll eventually find something.

I feel like the Wikipedia explanations of their habitats arent always correct. I look at the pics that ppl post of whatever they find to try and gauge the surroundings. i live in dalton so i normally have to travel further south.

Look to the Official GA Actives threads from the past couple of years. Lots of great info to guide you to success.

You should have no problem finding caerulescens and Gymns in Dalton.  No need to travel too far! I found a few nice clusters of caerulescens in Fannin county this past fall, just 2 or so counties east of you.

You shouldnt have to go far for caerulescens, id imagine youd be able to find some caerupiles up that way as well. Maybe have to go a little east.

omg! i gots to find some ovoids before next year. double umbonate (alot of the times[at least around here{in ga}]), veil sometimes slightly remnant, fuzzy rhizos at base of (for the most part) hollow curvy stem, white gill edge, ninja-like psilocybian build. aside from the readily blueing, and boxelder loving, any other key takeaways i should note for the quest? which begins .... now!
oh and be aware ur highly visible in the woods right now i was crouched down silently inspecting a fell tree and heard someone a good 100 yards away talking on the phone who im overheard him saying... and there is a guy down there in the woods, hey what are you doing down there??!? to which i kindly responded, uhhhh... nothing! which was better than the other response i had lined up which happened to be "im not looking for mushrooms"

those ovoids are eluding the shit out of me rofl. cant say the same about there imitators though :mad2: im sure i was targeting the right areas too. are you finding them only by box elders evly? and those said box elders only have the curved winglet seeeds right? not the straight ones? and do you have to uncover them most of the time or do you see them popping through the leaf litter?

I’m not gonna lie itd pretty hard spotting some of these in their natural habitat now with all the leaves on the ground. Most of the specimen pictured weren’t even visible until I moved some debris around. But yeah there’s always box elder around in natural habitat for me. Sometimes trails are supplemented with mulch which really helps get things going in numbers.
