The pink stuff is a bacterial contamination. Don't know the scientific name but its a very "hearty" breed that can take quite a bit of heat and chlorine and still live. It will only grow where there is very high humidity or standing water. If your shower doesn't get cleaned very often you may see spots of it lurking in corners or under the shampoo bottle. It doesn't grow very fast, so a stratigic injection of peroxide should do the trick.

I recently picked up a bottle of tetracycline from the co-op, and am waiting for some of this junk pop up to see if common antibiotics will nix it and not bother the mycelia.

You can get tetracycline at a co-op? What's its use intended for? I thought anti-biotics were only available by presciption.

http://www.valleyvet.com sells antibiotics for animals, I can't remember the name of the antibiotic that FP uses in their antibacterial agar, I just saw it posted somewhere, did a search for it on the web, and I think it can be bought online.
