HELP! Mushies burning!
    #2757796 - 06/02/04 07:45 PM (16 years, 9 months ago)

I read about a guy who decided to case his popcorn substrate in 50/50+ (plus) mixture exactly as Ryche Hawk describes (15.5 cups verm & Peat; 4.5 cups shell; 1.2 cups hydrated lime)

He just cased last night. Today, he got a PH meter to be safe, and it is registering at 10.5 ph! ACK! How did this happen? He even used Hi-Yield Hydrated lime as hawk suggested!

Is the substrate lost forever? Should he quickly remove it from the casing and make a new casing with lower ph? Thanks!

If you do you'll need to be as sterile as possible. You could also just use something to bring your ph down.

Is it mixed thouroghly? I know a guy who uses that recipe, and after it reading about 7 on the ph meter for the first few times, he stopped measuring the ph.
